This is why the seemingly innocuous term “States Rights” still gives me the shivers.

Bernie? Who legitimized Trump’s rants of “Lock her up!” by accusing her of stealing the election? Who was so bitter about losing he kept ranting and encouraging his fans? Ever since at least Nader, there’s been some selfish asshole doing this.

Utah and others. From the same link I posted:

Yes. [This article](https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-midwest-immigrant-populations-met-20170918-story.html) has a map showing the percent increase of immigrants–many coming as refugees–in various cities of the Mid-West. They are helping to revitalize dying local economies, so they are welcomed.

Trump’s ethno-nationalist bullshit fantasy narratives defy the reality that people can see and experience, but the propaganda machine, via Fox, Facebook, etc., is so pervasive that it displaces reality.

My beloved St. Louis benefited greatly from the influx of immigrants from the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s. We now have a thriving Bosnian community. I’d be happy to see more people move into the region. StL is great! Please come!

Oops. That re-tweet wasn’t deleted after all. It was a glitch in Twitter that made that, and much else, disappear in parts of the world. That has been fixed, and all those missing tweets are there.

The Newsweek article linked above has been updated to say so. Here also is a summary story about it at Raw Story:
[Trump did not actually delete tweet outing the whistleblower — it is ‘visible all around the world’](https://www.rawstory.com/2019/12/trump-did-not-actually-delete-tweet-outing-the-whistleblower-it-is-visible-all-around-the-world/)

I read somewhere that Twitter has ruled that this is NOT a violation of its TOS. :smack:

Twitter came up with an algorithm that weeded out Nazis and white supremacists. It also turned up a lot of Republicans, so they invalidated the algorithm rather than the hatemongers.

Oh, and here’s the delightful sort of assholes who vote for Trump. [That’s a former member of Roy Moore’s staff, calling a 12-year-old rape victim a murderer.](https://www.patheos.com/blogs/progressivesecularhumanist/2017/07/conservative-christians-attack-12-year-old-rape-victim-seeking-abortion/?fbclid=IwAR2J9jp9sbqJYtJnB6dstES06jpVKq-BlL10MzxZWYhOTJaPUmbJZBLTPVg)

They don’t appear to have any interest in calling the rapist _anything_ at all.

The only difference between them and the fundie Muslims they rail about is opportunity and style of clothing. With all those nutjob judges they’re putting in place, they’re hoping to give themselves the opportunity to have their very own American-style Iran really soon.

Not sure what thread this is most appropriate in so I ended up here: [Ex-Christian publication editor who quit says he had ‘no other choice’ after pro-Trump editorial](https://www.cnn.com/2019/12/26/politics/napp-nazworth-christian-editor-trump-cnntv/index.html)

> [@](#):
>
> “When I was told this would be the position of the paper, of the news site, I said that’s not something I can support,” Napp Nazworth, who announced on Monday that he had resigned from The Christian Post, told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota on “New Day.”
>
> Nazworth’s resignation came amid a heated debate among evangelicals about Trump, who enjoys overwhelming support from the community despite his controversial public behavior and comments.
>
> The controversy began last week, when a rival publication, Christianity Today, published an op-ed that called Trump morally unfit for office and called for his removal. In response, The Christian Post denounced the article, insisting that Trump’s support among evangelicals remains strong and slamming the impeachment process – arguing that a “government of elites” has compromised constitutional due process.
>
> “We’ve never sounded like that before. That’s not the types of positions we take in the past,” Nazworth told CNN on Thursday, adding that his former employer’s position on impeachment sounds like “some odd sort of conspiratorial thinking.”

> [@](#):
>
> Nazworth brought up how the editors had all worked together previously on an anti-Trump editorial in 2016 with the headline “[Donald Trump is a scam.](https://www.christianpost.com/news/donald-trump-scam-evangelical-voters-back-away-cp-editorial.html)”
>
> “We all agreed back then and understood who Donald Trump was,” Nazworth said. “I didn’t change my mind about Donald Trump, but some of the other editors did.”
>
> “I’m worried now that without me there, that, you know it will no longer be a place that presents the alternative view to team Trump and the evangelicals who support him,” Nazworth said.
> He added that he didn’t want to leave.
>
> “I warned them. If you go down this road and join team Trump, then that will destroy the reputation of The Christian Post,” Nazworth said, adding, “We had reached the impasse and I really had no other choice but to leave.”

Now I’m conflicted. I don’t care for Mr. Trump (and his family and friends, etc.), but if he’s hastening the downfall of the American Evangelical… well, it’s just hard for me to see that as a negative, is all I’m saying.
