Yabbut, they never left the Roman Empire and thus were neither immigrants nor refugees. That’s the rebuttal to that point I have heard anyway. ---

IANAL, but it seems to me that if you are running to another country to prevent the king of your own country from killing you, you’re a refugee. ---

A Canadian man is being denied entry into the US because https://www.cbc.ca/radio/asithappens/canadian-truck-driver-who-shares-last-name-with-iranian-general-says-he-can-t-cross-u-s-border-1.5438078"]he shares a last name with a dead Iranian general. And it’s not like he wants to cross the border to buy cheap cigarettes or gas. He’s a trucker who works for a cross-border shipping company. ---

Yeah, I saw a lot of Trump supporters rolling out “They were travelling for a census! Read your Bible!” cluelessness. I know the Flight into Egypt is only in one of the Gospels (Matthew) but it’s not _that_ obscure a story. As an agnostic I’ll admit to a certain petty enjoyment of schooling conservative Christians on Bible passages.
