You just made me realize something unpleasant: Election meddling is a thing, and it happened in 2016 (even if we can argue the effect was small). The current administration has handwaved it because it skewed towards hurting clinton. So this time around we’re in a situation where there are countries that 1) hate Trump and 2) Have the ability to interfere with the US election much more than last time. and 3) The US has largely been complacent about the threat, maybe even encouraged it. The unpleasant thought is: what about the scenario where trump loses, but there is actual evidence – accepted by everyone – of some foreign interference that hindered trump? What happens next? Probably absolute chaos. ---

Mike Pence has banned the Voice of America reporter from his press pool after the reporter said on Twitter that the press were told by the Pence staff the day before the Mayo Clinic visit that they were all required to wear masks. Pence is also demanding an apology. ---

I think this would be problematic whether it’s Biden or Trump who loses, but yes, there’s a greater than zero chance that the armed right wing protest mob goes off. At minimum, chaos, as you say. ---

They got screwed but mostly within the rules so they accepted it. The GOP has long been ramping up their attacks on those norms, so when (Odin willing) Trump loses, they will assume it was due to deep state plot. That will lead to a non-zero chance of some number of them attempting a 2nd amendment solution. Whether that will be enough to cause actual nationwide chaos will need to be seen. ---
