The reward is billionaires probably paying next to nothing in taxes and, when it’s over, a whiter and more Christian fundamentalist society that cracks down on dissidents. ---

Given the context—I asked if anyone could remember an event similar to Pence’s aid looking to cut-off funding to non-cooperative GOP—it seems that the actual historical event was being referenced.
