They’re certainly working hard on it with Betsy DeVos as Secretary of Re-Education. But unlike things like healthcare, food stamps, and welfare, they can’t come out and say they’re getting rid of it, because even deplorable voters have kids and it would take quite a lot more brainwashing to convince them their own kids are worthless freeloaders taking advantage of our free elementary and high school system and need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. So instead they have to go the indirect route and talk about “school choice” and “charter programs” and “religious rights” in school to slowly erode public schools and funnel money to private Christian schools. ---

The march back to the 3rd world. A free public education is the foundation of a modern society. That some people want to take it away under the guise of “freedom” is frightening. The government has, for a very long time, been in favor of education. Crank out the people we need to do the jobs we’ll have available and keep us the #1 economy in the world. A good thing foreign powers would never think to back social groups seeking to do things that would, in the long run, damage this country, right? ---
