It’s incidental, but it it occurs to me - has a president ever asked relatively junior officers for a frank assessment of new military hardware? It’s fine to talk to generals, but there are captains in the Air Force who have to actually fly the damn things, and might have a better (or at least less stuck-in-the-past) idea of their potentials and their problems. ---
