This is probably pure fantasy, but if not: you heard it hear first. Trump’s upcoming physical will give him the graceful exit he yearns for. No matter what it finds, he’ll announce that “health issues” (something noble and non-embarrassing, like heart failure) prevent him from performing his duties and sadly he must step aside. ---

I’ve wondered about that, too, mainly because I was extremely surprised when it was announced that he’d have a normal physical exam, just like normal Presidents do. The examiner will, they say, be the same White House physician who’s been the official P. to the President since 2013, Ronny Jackson (a Navy Rear Admiral–no proctology jokes, please).\* Before that I figured he’d either have no exams, or go to that odd NYC doctor, who would duly tell him he was the Healthiest President in History (as before). So for DT to subject himself to an actual exam by an actually-competent doctor…that must mean that he wants an out. This would be historic and unprecedented— Trump admitting to having any sort of defect, that is, versus being the only man on earth capable of doing the job better than anyone’s ever seen, just wait and see. More likely: the tests will show his health and intelligence to be so outstanding that doctors are baffled, so he’ll generously allow teams of the best scientists to study him in hopes of unlocking the secrets of his genetic superiority, which will lead to cures for all diseases… fill in the rest. This will necessarily take up much of his time, so he’s agreed to allow Mike Pence to serve as temporary interim president— but rest assured that they will still consult with him and seek his advice on all issues, so essentially he’ll still be in charge of running the country, and of course will continue to boast about every positive development, while blaming every failure on others. ---
