President Pence with a Democratic-controlled congress will be harmless and ineffectual, just warming the chair until 2020 (and if the Democrats don’t control Congress then there will never be a President Pence.) ---

Good point. I actually don’t know which is worse, a president pence or trump. Trump is incompetent, which is useful, as he hasn’t done as much harm as he could have if he actually knew how to navigate the halls of power. Pence isn’t quite as incompetent, but I don’t know that even the current crop of republicans would support some of the more damaging things he would want to do to our country. OTOH, as you said, and I hand’t really thought of, a Pence president is actually better than a trump president, assuming a dem controlled congress. ---
