The Trump administration is trying to walk back Trump’s crazy pronouncements: - In a meeting today, his military and national security advisors had to convince him not to pull out of Syria immediately. - “There’s no trade war here,” Larry Kudlow, Mr. Trump’s new top economic adviser, said in an interview on Fox Business Network. He described the threat of tariffs as “just the first proposal” in a process that would involve negotiations and back-channel talks. ---

Underline mine: I don’t think that word means what Kudlow thinks it means. In CIV V, the Brazilian leader begins his negotiations with a gesture meaning “are you fucking crazy? did your mom drop you on your head when she shat you or do you practice daily, to be this much of a moron?”; I figured the designers associated the gesture with Latinos and never thought of asking what it was about. Kind of like calling a threat a proposal. ---
