If Wayne Gretzky (hey Don, what two teams did he play for? What was his number?) comes out in favour of Canada joining the USA, I can only conclude that Trump and Putin have combined Novichuck and LSD into a mind-control drug. Can Dave Semenko (Gretzky’s enforcer / bodyguard) please knock DJT to the ice? The five minute major will be worth it. Is David Beckham going to state his support for the annexation/purchase of Greenland next? ---

Good freaking god! If I had “foreign-seeming” small children and lived in the U.S. I would be considering leaving, their citizenship or lack of it notwithstanding. The thought of a child of mine at the tender mercies of racist knuckleheads with a quota of deportations to meet just chills me to the bone. ---

I didn’t recognise the name at first, and thought you were talking about the Matt Damon role in the Stella Artois commercial during the Super Bowl, where he plays David Beckham’s twin brother, yet he is “Dave Beckham”. ---

ISTR he and his wife were W Bush backers but probably backed Trump in 2016 as well. However, I’d venture to guess if he ran as an MP on a “Let’s join the USA as a non-voting territory” platform he’d be booted out of any hockey halls of fame and booed at any events. If Musk throws enough money at Denmark’s far right as he just did in Germany, and somehow got Peter Schmeichel to cash in his fame for a “Let’s sell Greenland to America” platform, I’d expect he’d get similar treatment. Same if Beckham joined the Reform UK party and backed Nigel Farage. ---
