In situations like this, I really wish people wouldn’t step in to provide rhetorical cover for Trump’s nonsense, and would instead feign disingenuously innocent confusion and say, “I’m sorry, I’m not sure I understand, can you explain what you mean by that?” I get that diplomatic norms preclude this kind of thing. I just wish they’d make an exception for Trump. ---

Musk will have to compete as an unsubsidized business, an area where we know he struggles. On the other hand, that could be a gift to Musk. He won’t need to be seen as failing on his own merits, he’ll have a villain and an excuse. I halfway expect him to lean into that. ---
