The Qatar thing has something to do with the Israel/Gaza ceasefire - the Qataris are involved in this thing up to their necks, and my guess is that the base was part of their compensation. We’ll learn the details eventually. ---

Well if it’s because they are friendly with China, it potentially means that China gets to (in Qatar’s name) put a major intelligence gathering installation _inside_ American borders. ---

That’s what a deal is, isn’t it? You give people what they want and they give you something in return. The ceasefire is a massively complex transaction involving dozens of countries and organizations, which is why we can be sure that Trump’s actual involvement in it was minimal. ---

I don’t mind buying a peace deal if it results in peace and benefits people on all sides. I’m hopeful but skeptical on both counts. ---

Not long ago, I caught a snippet of a Cabinet meeting, and by God, they were doing the thing again where they went around the room and each praised him with all their might, and it was so over the top that it seemed like a bit. Do they do this at every Cabinet meeting? I was embarrassed for them. ---
