Trump called his own VP a pussy, and Republicans sat on their hands. They’re simply pathetic, and do yourself a favor, don’t expect that Republicans will ever stand up to Trump in any meaningful way. It ain’t happening. ---

The Trump administration is seeking custody of Tina Peters, the former GOP Colorado election clerk who was sentenced to nine years in prison on state charges for her role in a 2021 voting system data breach, in a failed attempt to find voter fraud. There is no basis for the Bureau of Prisons to request a transfer of her custody. Any scheme to prevent her from being held accountable under Colorado law is outrageous. Trump’s former VP, quite Republican, (How Republican was he? He was so Republican that as Governor of Indiana he passed a law saying that it was perfectly legal to discriminate against gay people!) was _abandoned_ after Trump turned against him. His own guy. ---

This is just a small anecdotal point, but I have a few “friends” on Facebook that are die hard Trump supporters. I mostly unfollowed them because I can’t stand the rhetoric, but I will open their profiles directly when I want to feel some recreational outrage and just see how they spin whatever is in the news. For at least the past month now, all of them have been dead silent on Trump. These are people that parrot the Republican Party Line word for word and all I see is emptiness. ---

This is writing the “Book of American coup d’ tat” and when they need to detain and arrest Trump is up to them. SCOTUS and Congress are just about irrelevant. The Generals/Admirals who do not meet and agree to do this soon will not be Generals or Admirals anymore. The impact on the dollar will be crushing. It has to be. If you think that’s good enough, whatever floats your boat. My take is and has been it’s like church - it’s literally a cult. They know how to respond to the shout-y preacher guy up front. It’s rote. They don’t get or need to get what he’s saying. Or even really care about his “tone”. The only thing that matters is he’s on their “team” and says bad word things about other “teams” (whether that’s Democrats, furriners, women, minorities, etc). They can be balancing their checkbooks while he drones on. It doesn’t matter. They just need to be seen in their pews mouthing the appropriate words and (especially) making their tithes.
