That’s quite a brazen guess to make.

Trump, who suddenly is dressed like Ebenezer Scrooge for some reason, says he won’t be sending the National Guard to NYC.

Politics is something of a circle and, while appearing poles apart, the distance between “far” left and “far” right in terms of actual policies implemented can be illusionary.

On several objective criteria, especially economics, 45/47 & Sanders have the same interventionalist, socialist tendencies. And the 45/47 autocracy doesn’t earn the epaulet “democratic”.

The distinctions are important and glossing over them helps neither cause.

It’s a no brainer - because it’s what a savvy mayor would do. Roughly 50% of any mayor’s job is wheeling and dealing with real estate developers.

His base absolutely detests trump and has detested trump the entire time he’s been in real estate in NYC. Based on Mamdani’s platforms, I don’t think it’s a slam-dunk that he gave a sweetheart deal to trump, which would doom his career the instant word got out (unless he somehow cheated trump out of prime property which would then be turned over to the city).

The Mamdani meeting was just good looking politics that Trump’s shadow cabal convinced him would look better than arguing with Mamdani.

Trump knows fuck-all about Communism or any form of Socialism and don’t look stupider sitting there trying to debate with a good looking, popular winner and instead try and draw some of that “winner” bit your way. Talk about NYC, how much Trump loves it and imagines the feeling is mutual and both look good.

Marco is doing something that, under “old-normal” circumstances, he’d not do for about a year. Draw a line between his and Trump’s policies and make Vance a stooge of Trump. Then, again under the “old-normal” he can primary Vance and if there’s nobody else (Trump?) he gets the Presidential nomination.

He may as well as signed his resignation as he’s gone soon. He’ll be “little Marco” and every State Department error will be blamed on him. Yet he needs just that to distance himself from MAGA. In a fair race, he could do well in 2028. Dunno where his funds are coming from, yet he’ll have a couple cases to bring before SCOTUS regarding this election.

From what I understand, Trump kind of took the complaints to heart that his cabinet in Trump 1.0 had too much coming and going. So he hasn’t fired anyone yet, but is waiting for the end of his first year. So if Marco is gone, it’ll be in a couple months. I understand Hegseth will be another goner, maybe Noem too. Perhaps someone should start a thread on cabinet level firings before mid-February or beginning of March.

This, following Rubio saying (out loud this time) that Trump’s Ukraine treaty was written by the Russians, and he will not enforce this latest human rights policy and resign.

Maybe Trump’s DOJ has enough to spoil Rubio’s candidacy, were Trump to “allow” that. Yet there’s nothing good Rubio is going to say he’s done and this is not the first sort of “overhaul” at State that now he owns.

No matter what, Trump was going to say/tweet “I never liked him anyway” and replace him with the stooge he needs.

ETA: Apparently he took back the part about who authored the plan.

Rubio emphasised in a Sunday post on X before flying to Switzerland that the [proposal was authored by the US](https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/11/21/trumps-28-point-ukraine-plan-in-full-what-it-means-could-it-work).
