How soon before he gets the “brilliant idea” of renaming the language to \*American" and declaring it, via executive order, the sole official language of the United States of Merka (yeah, he’ll change the spelling too)? I just found out he was meandering around in a bewildered mental fog at the Super Bowl, he got soundly and roundly booed, and left early. ---

I know it’s expected on the SDMB to attack Evangelical organizations but do you honestly think stopping “effective aid programs” resulting in waste, lost commodities, rotting food and allowing medicines to expire are good things in impoverished areas? While you and I likely don’t agree with the rhetoric from Evangelical aid organizations it is wrongheaded to assume everything they do is dishonest. There are many of these groups that do good things around the world and they will be among those who have to stop helping people due to the defunding of USAID. ---

Let’s see, the latest military related news for this cluster included firing the Commandant of the Coast Guard, apparently for no other reason than she’s female, and Hegseth getting Thai-monarchy level spending for government quarters repainting. Who are “they”? Your response sounds like you think the recipients of assistance from USAID voted for the Orange Idiot and deserve to starve and lose access to vaccines and medical care. Or you think evangelicals vote as some monolithic block and are all MAGAts. They aren’t. They aren’t a majority by a long shot but the ones who care about the disadvantaged in other countries are the least likely to subscribe to the selfish ideology of DJT. ---
