Adequate in Chishona Can maintain in French, and Portuguese. Beginner level Bahasa Indonesia, though flag @CairoCarol for misnaming the language again, but that’s what I was told it was called. Apparently Indonesian is the term. But I like the Bahasa term, it refers to to “the language of”. ---

For the benefit of anyone unfamiliar with past discussion on this matter, I have pointed out that in Indonesian, “bahasa” just means language, so saying one speaks Bahasa is technically saying “I speak language.” Anyway, it’s a losing battle and, in English at least (and probably other languages), the word Bahasa is becoming synonymous with Indonesian/Malay. No big deal. Language purists generally lose in the end (and deservedly so, IMHO). In fact, autocorrect here wanted to insist that the word “bahasa” is capitalized, so clearly it is following the “German/Spanish/Bahasa/Italian etc.” rule. In other words - _Tidak app-apa, Mas Scudsucker!_ ---

The dude hasn’t been able to learn _English_ despite living all his life in an English-speaking environment and you want him to learn the more complex Spanish in his late seventies? At the first complex verb conjugation he would have a stroke and… Oh! I like your plan ---

It’s amazing that this is partly the result of tremendous jealousy over the popularity of a black predecessor. And also incredulity on his part that he couldn’t just step in, bark a few orders, and somehow he’d be more successful, by sheer force of will. That inferiority complex of his will be the ruination of us all. And the lengths our society goes to coddle these mediocre nepo babies staggers belief ---

Perfectly! It can also be “Ojalá hubiese tenido uno” both forms are correct. I like to imagine Trump trying to understand a word like “Comuniquemoselo” (let us communicate it (masculine it) to them) and the difference with “comunicasela” (you communicate it (femenine it) to them) ---

Gender in foreign languages would definitely have him stumped. He’d probably use an Executive Order to outlaw gender–and then deport the offenders. ---

Because that’s all he’s ever done. the Trump companies aren’t publicly traded, so he’s the absolute boss. He doesn’t even have to worry about shareholders. He’s simply not used to a system where other people are allowed to have their own opinions, and the right to act on those opinions, regardless of what Trump wants. So he has no idea how to get people to agree with him if they don’t already agree with him. ---

Really? They weren’t around where I grew up, and they only just started opening a few around here. I just assumed with a name like that they sold schnitzel but they actually sell wurst? What the actual heck? ---

Yum, yum! Hot dog!_ ♫) It’s typical American ignorance. We got _Wienerwurst_ (Vienna sausage), and shortened it (as we, not uniquely, do) to ‘wiener’. So instead of calling them ‘Vienna sausages’, by the early 20th Century we were calling them ‘Viennas’. And people had heard of Wiener Schnitzel; only Americans thought ‘wiener’ meant ‘hot dog’. So there you go. Not as bad as a place in Bellingham that is no longer in business. They couldn’t even spell ‘wiener’ correctly.
