And he’s guessing WRONG about their shoe sizes. There are photos of Marco Rubio wearing the shoes that will fall off his feet and trip him any minute:

[![](https://cdn.bsky.app/img/feed_thumbnail/plain/did:plc:exyrvmgxrjpscpsledt6kvwl/bafkreiaxdtbth23qf3dz7bx4hscyc6isrkyovpdvdqs2zuk3gda7nwrvsu@jpeg) ](https://cdn.bsky.app/img/feed_thumbnail/plain/did:plc:exyrvmgxrjpscpsledt6kvwl/bafkreiaxdtbth23qf3dz7bx4hscyc6isrkyovpdvdqs2zuk3gda7nwrvsu@jpeg)

Donald is loving this. He performs ritual humiliation of those who serve him quite often, it’s said, but this is a particularly delicious one for him. All those guys desperately trying not to fall over in shoes that don’t fit!

They put up with it because the grifting is so good, of course. But they do pay, one way or another…

If I was one of the recipients of Trump’s gift of Florsheim shoes, I’d quietly buy the same style of shoe but in the correct size for my feet.

Seconded. How cheap is Mario Rubio that he will rather wear the wrong sized shoes than buy himself the correctly sized ones? Except if he knows that the temper tanTrump in the WH bought the wrong size on purpose and wants him to humiliate himself by wearing them to show, hum, what is he showing here to whom by wearing the wrong sized shoes?
Petty stupid coward assholes, the whole lot.
And those are not loafers, are they? You don’t have to tie up loafers, I thought? Not that it matters, except if that picture is not of Mario’s feet, but someone else’s. Or AI generated.

Nah, black shoes with blue suit is more traditionally correct, although brown shoes have become acceptable for a more modern look as long as they’re not noticeably lighter in shade than the trousers. The ubiquitousness of brown boots, esp. cowboy boots, with blue jeans has inspired stylesetters to bring that color combo into the more formal context of the suit.

> A navy blue suit can be the most versatile piece in your tailoring wardrobe. Here’s how to avoid ruining it with the wrong footwear.

Wearing brown shoes with a blue suit was long considered a glaring mark of tastelessness and sartorial incorrectness. Fashion trendmakers have been reassuring men for several years now that they **can** do it if they want, but there are many older guys who will never think it looks good.

> One such pairing that has sparked ongoing debates is the combination of a blue suit with brown shoes. While black shoes have long been considered the traditional choice for formal attire, the rise of sartorial experimentation and a more relaxed dress code has given birth to this unconventional combination.

I’m glad I’m not in a line of work where I have to wear a suit. Menswear fashion sounds liike an absolute pain.

The last time I had to dress formal I wore black cargo pants, a white shirt, dark blue blazer, red day cravat, and black loafers. I thought I looked fine but I was probably committing half a dozen fauxs pas.

Eh, like every other domain of style trends, menswear dress codes are a structure for individual artistic expression for some who enjoy it, a useful set of traditional conventions for many who prefer not having to think about what choices to make, and an annoying incomprehensible labyrinth for many who don’t want to be judged on what they wear.

(Spoiler: On some level and to some extent, everybody is always going to judge you on what you wear. The severity and consequences of such judgements can vary a lot, though.)

That sounds distinctly unconventional in a sort of “ironic formal” way, but no part of it sounds obviously incoherent or tasteless. If the colors, textures or cuts had been really inharmonious, you probably would not have thought it looked fine, but since you did then it probably **was** fine.

The difference between looking well-dressed in an unconventional way and looking like a frumpy clod lies in intangible aspects of style, line and fit, not in following a detailed sartorial spec sheet. Some guys enjoy seeing how perfectly they can nail a detailed sartorial spec sheet, but it is not mandatory for looking good.

Anyway! Back to the regularly scheduled clusterfuck dissection.

Aureus shareholders already include American Ventures and Dominari Securities—the Trump-backed investment bank that has helped facilitate the family’s cryptocurrency deals.

So that wasn’t a salute in Dover. That was the felon watching his sons bank accounts go up.

I mean, just because that roadkill carcass on his head makes him look 250 years old, it doesn’t mean he really is.

I’m not sure I can do that anymore. I was a Trump whisperer back when Trump was _coherent_. His dementia-addled brain is so unpredictable these days that whatever comes out of his mouth is a pure wildcard. He’ll say one thing one day and contradict it the next, can’t stick to his own talking points, occasionally admits more than he meant to (as today when he implied that 6 is the age of consent), and goes off on wild tangents that have nothing to do with the ostensible topic of his speech.

He’s about two weeks away from declaring onstage that he loves fucking kids.

I thought he hated fucking kids except, oddly enough, when he’s fucking kids.

Kudos if you know were that comes from.
