Robert Kennedy Jr in a 2024 radio interview: _“Every Black kid is now just standardly put on Adderall, SSRIs, Benzos, which are known to induce violence. And those kids are going to have a chance to go somewhere and get re-parented — to live in a community where there’ll be no cellphones, no screens. You’ll actually have to talk to people.”_ Robert Kennedy Jr, testifying under oath before Congress in 2026, denied ever saying that he talked about reparenting black kids and told Representative Terri Sewell, who asked him about this, that she was “making things up”. Apparently Mr Kennedy is unaware of the existence of recordings. Or perjury charges. Seriously, is there a White House pool where the cabinet member who screws up biggest each month wins a hundred dollars? ---

**Monty** , I was a little dismayed at the recent Artemis II news conference. Our Canadian astronaut fielded a question from the CBC in English, and then was hit by a question from a Radio-Canada (CBC French) reporter in French. Jeremy Hanson, our Canadian astronaut, responded in halting French, but really. I’m a little tired of everything in Canada having to be in French. Yes, right now, French-speakers are about a third of the country, and they are bilingual, but really only-French-speakers may be 15% of the country. Regardless of what anybody says, Canada speaks English, not French. Hanson would not be out of place responding in English to the French-speaking reporter’s questions. ---

Too late to edit, but I’ll add this anecdote: Some years ago, in Banff National Park, in Alberta, Canada, I got into a discussion with an American woman. “You speak English so well,” she said. “No trace of a French accent.” Um … ma’am, we don’t speak French. ---

I grew up in northern Maine, right on the border with New Brunswick, very close to Quebec. I had friends in New Brunswick, that I met while skiing, who could barely speak English … so she wasn’t completely in left field. In fact, I remember spending a weekend with a family in Quebec as sort of a half-assed exchange program, and they didn’t speak English at all. That was a trip. Luckily, it was two for two thing, and the other person I was there with from my school spoke passable French, otherwise I may as well had been on Mars. ---
