It’s just amazing (in a bad way) that not only was the first reaction I saw here and elsewhere to the alleged assassination “he probably faked it”; but that the response to that was a mix of “yeah, or course” and “yeah, but he did it wrong”. _Not_ “that’s a conspiracy theory”. ---

It’s not even the first time. He brings up grievances unprompted - Obama, BIden, whoever. How many times has he brought up the shooter in Pennsylvania at all over the last year? Even once over the last year? He tweets random bullshit in the middle of the night about things that happened over a decade ago, and he’s just forgotten some guy who supposedly actually grazed him? ---

I agree. We seem to have entered a world where anything that can be spun as “well that’s convenient for him” means it must be fake. The man is a deeply polarizing figure in a country known for gun violence. Two people died in the first attempt. Frankly, I’m surprised there haven’t been _more_ attempts. I can only chalk it up to him having support from the portion of the population most likely to produce people willing to attempt political violence. ---

It’s “convenient” that this happened to be literally the first Correspondent’s Dinner he ever attended? And that it happened to be disrupted in this particular fashion rather than a more normal protest? That extends beyond convenience and strains credulity ---
