This is actually the usual practice for commemorative coins. While some are issued for circulation (e.g. state quarters, Presidential dollars), most are sold at a premium, as both proof and uncirculated. The real question is how many will be sold. I expect Trump or his minion will order an exceptionally large minting and most will end up unsold in the Treasury Department’s vault.

Someone with at least one living brain cell needs to tell him off in front of others. The least expensive way of doing what Rip van Simple wants is likely to scrap what’s already built and start over beginning with a redesign from the keel all the way to the crow’s nest (yes, that’s still a thing). The ship is designed for balance and buoyancy. You cannot just relocate a massive structure like the ship’s island without greatly affecting those. As for the EMALS, it was new technology, so of course there would be problems with it. The Navy now says EMALS works well and, get this, saves money. But, hey, Felon One, what do facts have to do with anything?

> BEDMINSTER, New Jersey, Aug 15 (Reuters) - Two years after Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump staged a New Jersey press conference flanked by grocery staples to spotlight inflation under Democrats, food prices are still rising despite his pledge to bring them down. The gap between promise and reality now looms as a vulnerability for Republicans ahead of November’s midterm elections.
>
> Standing between tables piled high with fruit, beef, cereal, milk and other household staples at his Bedminster golf club on August 15, 2024, Trump blamed the Biden administration for sharp increases in groceries. The spectacle, complete with charts showing higher prices, was aimed at undercutting the Democratic nominee, Kamala Harris, and highlighted Trump’s central promise: he alone could tame inflation and lower the cost of living.
>
> Two years on, higher gasoline and grocery prices are squeezing household budgets and turning the cost of living into the top issue for American voters. Voters now give Democrats a slight edge over Republicans in who they view as better stewards of the economy for the first time in nearly a decade, according to Reuters/Ipsos polling.

> [@](#):

Hegseth visited Capitol Hill at least twice in recent weeks to advocate for President Donald Trump’s historic $1.5 trillion military budget proposal. Democratic lawmakers were shut out of the private sessions on each occasion.
>
> North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis contended that Hegseth was weakening his own budget pitch through the exclusions. “He calls himself the secretary of war, but ironically, he doesn’t want to go to war and win the argument with nearly half the members of the Senate,” Tillis said. “You got to engage.” The rebuke holds particular significance because large portions of next year’s defense budget still need Democratic support to pass.

Republicans can advance some elements through the party-line reconciliation process without opposition votes. However, they cannot secure the full budget package without bipartisan cooperation, potentially derailing administration priorities this fall.

He has already said that stealth is ugly. And also [**[cite](https://www.defensenews.com/air/2025/05/16/pentagon-silent-aviation-experts-baffled-by-trumps-fighter-comments/)**]:

> “An F-35 has a single engine; I don’t like single engines,” Trump said, before gesturing to GE Aerospace chief executive Larry Culp. “Even this man, he’s the best in the world at engines. But on occasion, I know you won’t admit this, if an engine goes out, it’s nice to have two, three or four. That’s why I like the 747, it’s got four.”
> […]
> The intentions behind Trump’s comments about upgrading the F-35 and the F-55, and his preference for a dual-engine jet, were unclear. But Aboulafia said that if Trump was advocating for modifying the F-35 with a pair of engines, that would be virtually impossible short of a massive restructuring of the entire jet.
> To do that, he said, Lockheed Martin would have to “rip apart the entire middle of an F-35, [and] replace it with a completely different middle. You should probably get new wings with it … just for stability. … That might be the worst idea ever, but theoretically, sure [it could be done]. It would just be a new aircraft.”

But that was all over one year ago, so it is no longer true. Apart from the part about the worst idea ever. He is good at that.

Thought I read 15,000 North Korean troops are assisting Russia in war with Ukraine. Orangeboy is cheering them on as well, no doubt.

> As always, I wonder how Fox News et al are trying to sell this idiocy to their audiences.

It’s patently the easiest thing in the world to do. Take the following quiz on hypothetical questions. I’ll give you three hints: 1) every answer is one word, 2) every answer has just five letters, and 3) it’s the same answer for every question.

1. Who has done the most for America in the history of the universe?
2. Who should get a third term?
3. Who is mistretated by the fake news?

Facts don’t matter. Reality is what the magaflatearthers are told by the traitor’s fans and enablers say it is. Critical thinkinng is un-American.

How I wish I were kidding. Cry, the beloved country.

> Attorney General Todd Blanche said Sunday there’s a “possibility” that the Justice Department will ask the Supreme Court to intervene in dozens of cases in which judges have ruled against the federal government’s efforts to gain broad access to state voter rolls ahead of November’s midterm elections.
>
> “Absolutely, it’s a possibility,” Blanche told NBC News’ “Meet the Press” when asked whether he’d appeal the 22 cases the Justice Department has lost so far to the Supreme Court.
>
> “Election integrity is something that President Trump ran on, and the American people elected him. It’s something that every American should care about,” the attorney general added. “And so the idea that the Department of Justice is trying to investigate issues around elections to make sure they’re fair and make sure they’re conducted the right way is not something that we should be running away from. That’s something we should be running right towards.”
>
> The cases stem from an executive order Trump signed asking states to turn over their voter rolls, [including voters’](https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/justice-department/tracking-dojs-effort-get-us-voter-registration-data-rcna331509) names, dates of birth, residential addresses, state driver’s licenses and the last four digits of their Social Security numbers. The federal government has said it’s gathering the data to allow the Justice Department to investigate any “deficiencies” or “anomalies,” including whether any noncitizens are registered to vote.
>
> While some states have voluntarily complied with the administration’s request for voter roll data, the Justice Department has sued 30 states and Washington, D.C., for refusing to comply.

Are you sitting down? Yes? Then you better lie down for this bit from the article. (The **bolding** is mine; the male bovine excrement is Blanche’s.)

> SAN FRANCISCO, Aug 16 (Reuters) - U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche said on Sunday that he backs top Washington, D.C., prosecutor Jeanine Pirro, who was criticized by President Donald Trump for the way she handled a case of alleged vandalism at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
>
> “I absolutely support U.S. Attorney Pirro, as does President Trump,” Blanche said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” program.

Personally, I think he should be drug tested after that comment. Supporting someone is not ordering them to do something opposite to what they just announced to the nation. Blanche’s boss does not support Pirro.

> What are our executive powers and the Department of ~~War~~ Defense doing to bring an end to the conflict and bring this ship to port? Glad you asked! Secretary Pete Hegseth has been working very hard, and by “working very hard” I mean making angry social media PSAs hawking testosterone therapy instead of actually resolving the issue—because the one thing a war needs is _more_ testosterone! Last month, Hegseth announced his initiative to screen the military for testosterone levels every year and offer TRT (testosterone replacement therapy) to men who aren’t adequately T’ed up. With that in mind, this week’s Comment of the Week goes to reader Glabrous Bear, who had the right idea of what Hegseth’s plan might be to course-correct _USS Lincoln_: Just be manlier.
