You’re right! In this case, “winning” means returning to the status quo before Trump fucked it all up. No matter how this shakes out, we’re going to lose because Iran is going to walk away with something and we’ll have less.

They obviously believe that they are the be all and end all of not only military prowess but of every field of human endeavor. Anything whatsoever that contradicts that is something they will blame on Obama first, then Biden next. How about never again? I mean that’s always an option right? Just a quick reminder that during the first Trump regime they basically just stopped doing press briefings altogether for like the last year of his term

Speculation is running rampant that Trump has to dump her for various reasons. Knowing that he is physiologically incapable of admitting a mistake, it occurs to me that we may see a repeat of this. It doesn’t seem like there’s any requirement to actually hold a press briefing. It would be monumentally stupid to do so right before the midterms of course, (not that that would stop anyone associated with the clusterfuck), but if we do see the blue tsunami that everyone is talking about, there may not be any reason for Trump to continue doing these. Or to have somebody doing these at least. He doesn’t see himself as accountable to anyone or anything so there’s never going to be a need to ever answer a question again as far as he would be concerned.

Evidently the only requirement for the chief executive to say anything (other than the oath of office) is to communicate his assessment of the state of the union, “from time to time”. This is in Article II, Section 3, Clause 1 of the constitution. There’s no requirement for him to talk to the press.

Why should he see himself as accountable. He never has been, not to the point where he has actually suffered.
