Trump just endorsed Netanyahu in he upcoming Israeli elections. Motherfucker.

Is an endorsement from Trump worth anything in Israel? The article didn’t really get into how Israelis feel about Trump (except a brief mention about how 45% of people surveyed don’t trust him at all). But there have been Republican candidates in the US who have scrubbed Trump’s name from their websites because they don’t want to be associated with him.

I don’t know. A year ago, he was very popular. Now, though, a lot of Israelis seem to have caught on that he’s full of shit - that he’s erratic and can’t be trusted. Still, as a rule, Israelis tend to support people who claim to support us; OTOH, we also really don’t like it when people tell us what to do. So it could help, or it could hurt. I hope it’s the latter, but I really don’t have a clue.

I’m longing for the time—perhaps in a mere two-and-a-half years—when a Democratic President is chalking up gains on the economy and on the US position in the world.

(And in addition: when Democrats are doing hearings in the Senate and House they dominate, as a first stage in justice coming for Trump Regime lawbreakers; and when the Supreme Court has been right-sized (with sane new Justices).)

At that time, perhaps, Donald’s words will be played over and over again.

Plus, people are scared. What if we elect someone Trump doesn’t like and he turns on us?

When someone is unpredictable and has no inhibitions or moral boundaries - when they could do anything to anyone for any reason - Israelis say that they “have no God.” Well, Trump has no God.

This is the real, permanent damage Trump and his enablers have done to the world in general and this country in particular. If he had been thoroughly repudiated in 2020 and on during Biden’s term, and – worst case – a Republican been elected but was “wrong within normal parameters” in 2024 we could claim that was an aberration that wouldn’t be repeated any time soon.

But that didn’t happen. Instead enough voters liked him and his policies to put him in again and despite four years’ experience with him before plus another twenty months into the second time around one in three American voters still think he’s doing a bang-up job.

The US and its electorate are the problem. Trump is the carbuncle on top.

My spirits are always buoyed when there’s a question that I feel I _can_ answer:

> Religious man lives in two kinds of time, of which the more important, sacred time, appears under the paradoxical aspect of a circular time – a sort of eternal mythical present periodically reintegrated by means of rites.

TL;DR “it depends on what the meaning of the word ‘time’ is.”
