the whole thing is ridiculously childish. The picture looks like a comic book. Trump displaying it so proudly with his “logo” plastered on the side and named after him. It’s like somebody showed him how to use chat GPT and put him in a corner to draw pictures while the adults\* in the room got some work done. Sort of the modern-day equivalent of keeping a child occupied with crayons. - I use the word adults very loosely when talking about anybody in the Trump sphere. ---

I’ve mentioned before that my wife and I used to work for the Department of State. Our first posting was to the embassy in Lisbon, where we made a lot of friends, including among the local hires (Foreign Service Nationals or FSN). One of them has stayed in touch over the past 30 years. In her Christmas greeting today she told us how she has resigned from the embassy, along with a lot of other FSNs, because of the uncertainty and poor treatment they’re experiencing. She said the embassy staff is down to a skeleton crew of locals who can’t afford to quit. I have to believe that this is likely the case across the world, as Trump relegates diplomacy to the back of the bus. ---

Thereis literally nothing which this absolute clown has left unscathed in his quest to destroy not only the reputation of a once great country, but also the very lives of the citizens of the United States and countries which used to be proud to be called our allies. The irony here, of course, is his and his supporters’ mantra is _Make America Great Again_. The country _was_ great before he somehow got into office the first time. The reason it now needs to be made great again is because he destroyed so much of the country’s institutions, goodwill, and reputation. The second time in office is just more of the same, but with a difference in degree. ---
