As @Johnny_L.A indicated, that’s a fair first thought.

A good second thought, on the topic of “damages” suffered by the Center from the cancellation, is that the concert was FREE:

Oh but the reputational damage! The defamation! trump is suing the BBC for several billions for something like that I understand, so Chuck Redd is in trouble.

But as he has got nothing to lose I hope he pushes back hard and kicks them hard in the balls.

> To DJT: Have your last fucking Christmas.

I’ve said it before, and I’m sure I’m going to say it again. The felon colors himself the way he does because he thinks the Sun is that color and he believes everything revolves around him. Also, he adores dictators, the birthday for one actually called [Day of the Sun](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Day_of_the_Sun). Since that particular dictator is also the [eternal president](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternal_leaders_of_North_Korea#%22Eternal_President%22), of course the felon is going to love that date. Too bad for the felon it’s in April.

Personally, I think [this](https://www.aol.com/news/congress-looks-reclaim-relevance-ceding-110000509.html) could fit very well under FOFA or the Schadenfreude thread, but since it’s all because of fealty to the felon, here it lands.

>
> Democrats repeatedly cried foul, and even some Republicans aired concerns about the White House brushing aside Congress. Scores of lawmakers opted for retirement before the calendar even turned to January.
>
> Now many are wondering whether anything will be different next year, especially with the added political pressure of the approaching midterm elections.
>
> “Yeah, I’ve been concerned for ten years about that,” Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said when asked about clawing back Congress’ relevance. “I don’t know that it’s getting any better. Seems to be getting worse.”

It’s quite the read. And if you’re still supporting any legislator who caved to the felon, you’re 100% complicit in this destruction of the basic American governing ideals.

I remember living on military bases overseas during my time in service and also when I visit such bases these days. One often-shown “spot” (in lieu of commercials) on Armed Forces Network stations has a service member mumbling to themselves (themself?), “The commander isn’t going to like this”. This goes on for about 25 seconds, then the narrator reads the text shown in the sport about not withholding information, and finally the service member reports the facts.

They noted that leadership in the office has steadily and atypically become dominated by Trump’s political appointees.

The only thing preventing me from saying we have a monarchy right now is the felon’s second term theoretically has an ending date. Why do I say that? The Supreme Court grants him most of his wishes; Congress is now trying to show they have a spine and are not under his control; and he completely ignores the consitutition and even people in his administration who are supposed to guide him on legalites.

> The only thing preventing me from saying we have a monarchy right now is the felon’s second term theoretically has an ending date.

I question the use of the term “monarchy” here, for several reasons. First, there’s no real sense that anyone in Trump’s family is seriously considered as an heir to his seat in the Oval Office; questions of succession are consistently about which ghoul in his inner circle will be able to consolidate and maintain power upon his exit from this world. Second, historically, the _absolute_ monarch who operates with zero constraints on authority is kind of a rarity, so it doesn’t feel to me like a good match for what Trump and his minions are trying to construct. Third, I myself live in a modern monarchy, but it’s a _constitutional_ monarchy where the government and legislature are chosen by the people in free elections while the person on the throne is explicitly a figurehead with no power. There are, in other words, many _kinds_ of monarchies, so the word itself needs further qualification.

The closest modern equivalent to what the Trump Gang is pursuing is probably Tajikistan — an unchallenged unitary executive combined with an overpowering cult of personality. Of course, they’re also uneducated, uninformed morons who couldn’t find Tajikistan on a map and wouldn’t know the difference between Emomali Rahmon and Rahm Emanuel, so in their minds they’re more likely aiming for something between Putin in Russia and the Kim clan in North Korea. Neither of these is considered a monarchy (and this even though the Kims have established a multi-generational family dynasty).

I’m willing to hear your argument to the contrary, but on its face I think “monarchy” feels like the wrong word for the imminent American dictatorship.

Does his Orangeness have a **[Groom of the Stool](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groom_of_the_Stool)** already? That took longer than I thought.

> The Groom of the Stool was a male servant in the household of the English monarch who was responsible for assisting the king in his toileting needs. It is a matter of some debate as to whether the duties involved cleaning the king’s anus, but the groom is known to have been responsible for supplying a bowl, water and towels and also for monitoring the king’s diet and bowel movements and liaising with the Royal Doctor about the king’s health. The appellation “Groom of the Close Stool” derived from the item of furniture used as a toilet.
