I was wondering what the hell that even meant when I first saw it. Googling the phrase, there seems to be a consensus that it [originates with Nazi Germany](https://www.threads.com/@kacee_1/post/DTY6YbjkhJu/one-of-ours-all-of-yours-is-from-nazi-germany-it-was-coined-when-an-ss-officer):

So much for dog whistles, eh? How long before they put up the slogan ‘work makes you free’ at prisons and detention centers?
