Re last post, working in rare earth mines, in a war zone, sounds like the kind of job Americans will not do. And given the profits being sent to a government sympathetic to Russia, that being the United States, I suspect Ukrainians won’t do it either. So . . . Gee, deporting people to unstable regions with a history of anti-American sentiment seems like a GREAT way for us to make friends in the region! Especially if we make sure to cancel our humanitarian programs there. ---

Despite their apparent hostility to most migrants and refugees, the [Trump administration is working to quickly bring in South Africans of Afrikaner descent](https://www.npr.org/2025/05/09/nx-s1-5391815/first-afrikaners-granted-refugee-status-due-to-arrive-in-u-s). One guess why the administration is more sympathetic to this group than others. ---

What’s to stop a Democrat Governor of a state to order the arrest of ICE agents that live in their state; as a tit for tat response for ICE arresting their state’s representatives ? Maybe the Child Protective Service for New Jersey needs to make a “welfare check” on the homes or in school visits with the kids of the local ICE workers who reside in New Jersey… ---
