It has been my observation that almost every time Pelosi comes to the mike for her weekly press conference she begins with a recital of what bills the House is currently working on.

> [@](#):
>
> October 2
> As we gather here, our Members across the country are having communication with their constituents on two subjects, in particular, and one perhaps. The first is on our legislation H.R. 3, to lower the cost of prescription drugs now. We are very pleased that the response that Members are receiving as we’ve asked them to go out there to receive public comment on H.R. 3, and when they return, we will be ready to proceed, some in committee, others are just among Members to present the legislation.
>
> H.R. 3 is important because, as I’ve said to you before, across the country, you can see grown men cry at meetings because of the cost of prescription drugs. It’s almost impossible for them to be healthy and financially healthy with the rising cost of prescription drugs. In the last year’s election, this was a very high priority. It continues to be.

But that’s not what the reporters want to talk about. As soon as she was done speaking the questions about impeachment started coming fast and furious. She almost pleaded for them to as questions about the bills that were being discussed.

> [@](#):
>
> Do we have any questions first on the work to meet the needs of the American people in terms of the USMCA and the H.R. 3? On that subject?..But many of you have always been interested in USMCA, any ongoing interest there?

Oct 15

> [@](#):
>
> Speaker Pelosi. Good afternoon everyone.
>
> Thank you for being here on a subject that is so important to our country: the education of our young people, of the generation to come.
>
> College Affordability Act 2019. I am honored to be here with the distinguished Chair of the Education and Labor Committee, Bobby Scott, really a champion for young people in our country. He carries the credential of not only being the Chair of the Education and Labor Committee, but like the second-most senior person, should he have decided to go that route, on the Judiciary Committee, where he has fought for justice for our young people in his service in the Congress of the United States.

And again, they reporters only ask about impeachment inquiry proceedings:

> [@](#):
>
> Q: May I pose a question to Speaker Pelosi, an off-topic question?
>
> Speaker Pelosi. Well, let’s see, if we have any other questions about the education or the College Affordability Act? Any other questions about that?

There weren’t.

They’re working on legislation. They’re trying to talk about their work on legislation. But there is absolutely no interest from the press in reporting on it.

Agreed on all counts. That’s why you need a viral moment. Something that makes compelling news.

I don’t think “Use marketing!” is a realistic suggestion here.

The house is currently on fire. The media should be covering this five-alarm fire. To the extent that a construction company wants the news to break away from that coverage to tell viewers how well-built the road is that the firefighters are using, I’d say that’s a distraction from the pressing issue right now.

Note that Fox News does this all the time. Trump is caught on video killing a man, and Fox News runs stories about infrastructure week. It isn’t good journalism.

You do realize that trying to make something go viral is the surest way to ensure it doesn’t, or are we going down to the quarry to throw rocks in it yet?

The people do not care about infrastructure. The press does not care about infrastructure. The only ones that care about infrastructure are the actual politicians working on these bills, and their work is being utterly ignored, to the point where someone would suggest that they should move away from impeachment and work on infrastructure.

What slogan do you suggest? What baddass one liner would grab _your_ attention?

Mulvaney just confirmed during a press conference that money was held up and one of the criteria for releasing it was investigating the Democrats. Quid pro quo. They are openly admitting the crime hoping that by saying it out loud makes it acceptable.

In relation to corruption surrounding the DNC server apparently. Since the trump administration projects everything they are actually doing onto others, this must mean there’s evidence of corruption on the RNC servers. Wish someone could get hold of those servers!

Anyway, there’s no actual evidence of anything corrupt on the DNC servers or anything that would harm national security. That idea is a conspiracy theory. Apparently the GOP and their steadfast voters are cool with starting investigations on people and entities even without evidence. Trump just has to say “people are saying” and an investigation can begin. Preferably an off the radar investigation led by a bumbling celebrity/attorney.

This is, like, him practically begging for his finances to be investigated while at the same time resisting such. He is mental.

But obviously holding it at one of his FAILING resorts is of financial benefit to him. What is it going to TAKE?

The Republican stance has been that there is no problem unless the president pressured a foreign government to investigate his political adversary in return for money. This is exactly what Mulvaney now says happened.

\*"Acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney told reporters today that aid to Ukraine was in fact tied to President Trump’s wish for an investigation into the 2016 election.

When asked about the decision to withhold aid from Ukraine, Mulvaney told reporters that President Trump told him at the time, "This is a corrupt place. Everyone knows this is a corrupt place…Plus, I’m not sure that the other European countries are helping them out either.”

Mulvaney also added, “Did he also mention me in the past that the corruption related to the DNC server? Absolutely. No question about that."

When questioned on Mulvaney saying that the White House held up security money from Ukraine until the president got assurances, Mulvaney told reporters to “get over it” saying there are going to be political impacts on foreign policy.

```
"The corruption of the country, whether or not other countries participating in support of Ukraine, and whether or not cooperating in an ongoing investigation with the department of justice. That is completely legitimate, yes"
```

A reporter then questioned Mulvaney on his explanation saying it sounds like a quid-pro-quo to which Mulvaney said: “We do that all the time with foreign policy.”\*
