is when someone starts a thread, and it gets tons of views but not a single reply. efectively telling that person that they are stupid, and their input on the SDMB isnt appreciated. Yeah i know, this is a setup to get me flamed royally ---

fnord, You could look at it that way, I suppose. That very thing has happened to me. Rather than getting annoyed, I prefer to think that my comments are just so amazingly clever and insightful that no one feels qualified to respond. This might be the absolute furthest thing from the truth, but it keeps me from posting threads like this one. Well, I’ll be jiggered. Guess I’m just gonna chase you around the SDMB tonight. ---

We’re not saying you’re stupid. That’s only part of it. Most people only post when they have something to add. I never reply to a post just because I think it’s a good post. For instance, I replied to yours, didn’t I? ---

It’s really not that bad. It just means that you’ve posted something so well that no one can add to it, or you’re just off on a topic that doesn’t pique much interest. Happens to me all the time. Like this one time, in band camp . . . ---

Think of it in these ways: 1. Your post was intimidating in its quality. 2. When killing a thread, your final post was so well thought out that noone could dare to try to add anything else without paling in comparison.
