I’m so glad you posted Dog and Bear…I’ve always wondered something about that. It feels like a parody, but I’m not sure of what. Any ideas?

_Prince of Space_ is both my and my wife’s favorite episode by far. When one of us seems to be hassling the other a bit too much, out comes “You’re weapons are useless against me!” in that clipped lip-synch voice.

But I swear, neither of us are geeks.

As far as host segments go, you’d be hard pressed to beat the time Joel tried to switch off the Holo-Clown simulator.

And then, TORTURE!

I guess you really can be too rich and too thin.

**Teenagers From Outerspace**

In one of the lost world type movies, a certain female actor had one wicked nice ass, which kept getting serious time in some scenes. The bots realy liked commenting on that. I believe it’s the ep that gave us, “Rock climbing, Joel,” as a phrase to describe needless scene padding/fill.

YOu mean the nanites.

_Jack Frost_ holds a special place in my heart because it was the very first episode I ever saw.
“Help me Obi-Wan Kenoboski!”
“Chernobyl’s exploding again-let’s go watch!”
“Quick! There’s a sale on babushkas at Bloomindalskis!”

And the really ugly daughter looked like Tom Petty, so Tom kept singing Petty songs.
I liked when the ship was malfunctioning, Gypsy was getting all pissy at everyone, including Joel when he shows up. “Hey, hiya Gypsy!” “Bite me!” “Jump up my tube, white boy!” I named one of my cats after Gypsy.

Anyone know if the _Marooned_ episode is available on DVD?

That would be _Clones in the Sky_. I have the first soundtrack-a friend gave it to me for my birthday.
You guys forgot the best part of _Overdrawn at the Memory Bank_ (well, besides the fact that Raul Julia was hot when he was young): “Mum, 'm I nuts?”

This thread inspired me to go and buy the [Essentials](http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002M5TOI/qid=1117850079/sr=8-1/ref=pd_csp_1/002-9563380-2387208?v=glance&s=dvd&n=507846) DVD. It’s only two movies, rather than three or four as in the boxsets, but those two movies are _Manos_ and _Santa Claus Conquers The Martians_. _Santa Claus_ is easily my favorite episode, and I’m thrilled to have a copy again. I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time. _Manos_ is the stuff of legends, and I regret that I haven’t actually _seen_ it yet. I plan to sit down and watch it soon.

Reporter: “Tell me, is it true that this year, there’s a rumor that you’re going to use a rocket sled?”
Santa: “No, sirree! We’re going out the good old-fashioned way!”
Joel: “Guns a-blazin’!”

In Episode #112 - Untamed Youth, Mamie Van Doren’s character gets a chance to sing on TV (doing some Bizarro Carmen Miranda tune). During the song, she sings the line, “Come on boys, and carry my bananas!”

Joel’s response was great because of the way he delivered it, “What…does that mean?”

That’s a good question. It’s certainly within the reach of the MST3K talent (in my opinion anyway) to have written lines that visceral and poetic on their own: something that sounds like a gothic 19th Century naturalist. “Alas my force was spent…”, and all that. Sounds like Thoreau after a bad night in the woods. Or maybe Lovecraft, on any night.

On the other hand, maybe the writers just cribbed a real excerpt of literature from somewhere and adapted it for the skit — which I don’t mind, as it’s still damn hilarious. Anyway, if it’s a parody of something in particular, I’m afraid I don’t know what of.

Oh, and before I forget…

**Servo:** When you came up with the idea for Hobgoblins, were you… high on crack? (Say yes!)

**Crow (as director Rick Sloane):** Yes! Yes, I had been doing quite a bit of crack that day as I recall.

**Servo:** Now, director of this film, Mr. Rick Sloane, another question. I’ve been asked to put to you by the legions who have enjoyed your film, Hobgoblins: Did someone remove your brain and carefully replace it with rat droppings? (Say yes.)

**Crow (as Sloane):** … once again your insight is quite correct. I was home one night, before the filming of my hit film, Hobgoblins, when I received an unsolicited call suggesting I try their service, wherein they would replace my brain with rat droppings. It was a good deal so I said yes.

**Servo:** Ah, good, good. Another mystery solved. Well, thank you for your time.

Thanks for the tips. I’ve just watched Dethstalker and it was hilarious. There were many memorable parts but I think I laughed the most (or suppressing my laugh the most since all my family was asleep) at the Linguistic 101 part. The princess says to Deathstalker: “Don’t change the subject” and one of the bots adds: “It alters the meaning of the sentence.” I also liked the LOTR spoof at the end.
BTW: Has anyone seen The Raven with Vincent Price? The IMDB trivia states that the exterior shots of the castle were taken from that movie. If you have a chance, see it. It stars very young Jack Nicholson (just after his pull-out-as-many-teeth-as-you-want role in TLSOH).

**Guinastasia** : One of my favourite from Jack Frost was the vanishing mushroom guy and the serious documentary-like voice over: In his later years, Frodo Baggins used to get drunk and make fun of the villagers. (or something along those lines).

**Bytegeist** : Hobgoblins was my first MST3K and it got me hooked on it. Thanks for refreshing my memory. I have to watch this one again soon.

I was watching “Attack of the Giant Leeches” just the other day and right at the end of the movie when Joel and the Bots start to leave the theater, Joel picks up Tom Servo and Tom’s head falls off. It was obviously unintentional but of course they just run with it and ad lib for about 5 minutes.

I was just _dying_ at that point. Just brilliant stuff.

**From Manos: The Hands of Fate:** Joel (after seeing Torgo’s unusual way of walking): Ah, that’s not how you wear your Depends, Torgo.

Yeah, that was one grotesque little girl. I haven’t seen that episode for years; they don’t happen to have it out on DVD? Ah who am I kidding, I wouldn’t have missed that.

OH and another favorite I forgot about… Merlin’s Shop of Mystical Wonders. The movie itself is actually pretty creepy.

This post inspired me to get the Essential set. I have a little money laying around and I’ve seen neither Manos nor Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.

**jsc1953** , Prince of Space is currently on my computer. I love the schizophrenic scenes were nobody’s lips are moving yet voices are heard. I’m also a fan of the line “Prince of Hauling Ass” and try to work it into daily conversation.

Several movies had spine cracks since it seems a halmark of a bad movie is to carry an accident victim by slinging them over your shoulder:

**Crow** : Uhh. be sure to move her spine around as much as possible.

Some spine jokes were in:

**Pod People** (girl falls off cliff, they scoop her up and toss her in the RV.)
**The Phantom Creeps** (Hero yanks plane crash victim out of the plane.)

Too many more to list.

In one of the rare Sci-Fi Channel shorts, “Century 21 Calling” (produced by the phone company), the hostess is showing the young couple the convenience of touchtone phones. This causes Mike to rant about how the phone company charges extra for touchtone servce despite its proliferation in the market.

This used to be one of my pet peeves.

Actually, I think this one is another piece of pro-telephone propaganda. You’ll notice that every room the wife wants to make over has a brand spanking new phone in it that she has to show off. The angel has an old-timey portable, and the guy in the office mentiones the speaker phone.

If you stick to your plan, Candid, this will be one long-ass thread. I’ve been watching them all in order as well for the last, oh, three years or so. And I just got to the first Mike episode a few days ago.

The best episode ever - hands down - was Final Sacrifice. I’ve never seen anyone watch that one without choking with laughter for two hours straight. “Rowsdower Bowsdower Bibbity-Bobbity Sowsdower…”

The best song was the “Tubular Boobular” song from Outlaws.

Great episode. For some reason, the part that just slays me, is a scene where the hooded cult members are trying to break into the kids’ house. One baddie is hiding outside the front door. Mike/bots, in their guttural Bad Guy voice, say “Tee hee. Tee hee.” And I just die, every time.

Another silly but killer moment, in the short “The Home Economics Story”. One of the girls drops a letter in a mailbox, and the narrator says “Judy got a thrill when she mailed her application.” Crow emits this demented giggle/cackle/shriek that’s just…hilarious.
