The United States Air Force is unconstitutional

Was it constitutional to have the United States Army Air Corps from 1926 to 1941, or the United States Army Air Forces from 1941 until 1947? Because if they were, then taking “Army” out of the name is just semantics.

I’m not an expert on the history of the air force, but I would say very early operations could be covered by the necessary and proper clause as incident to the army forces. Thinks like early reconnaisance missions under direct command of army operations. But by the time the air force had its own chain of command, its own regulations, and its own line item on the federal budget, it was unconstitutional. ~Max
