"The United States has killed more people than any other country on Earth"

If we play our cards right, we can say that Britain is responsible for the existence of the United States so they’re really to blame for all the people we’ve killed.

Britain can be blamed on Normandy, which in turn can be blamed on Vikings. So it’s all Norway’s fault.
[This is all too much like SatW.]

The earliest accounts of the life of Rollo, the first Norse ruler of Normandy, peg him as being from Denmark.

Hmmm. something rotten there, but I guess we can’t say he’s pining for the fjords.

The figures are suspiciously precise. Given that the estimates for WW2 alone vary by several million for both Russian and China, I have my doubts.

And when someone days that the USA will “potentially kill hundreds of millions”, I detect an odor of bullshit. Short answer: the US is not blameless, but definitely not up in front.

Oh, and when and how did the British empire kill - what was the figure? 35 million? 50 million?

Regarding the slave trade in Africa, there ere losses in bringing the slaves to the ships. And even more if they were taken to the Arab countries much further east. As was pointed out here, the Arab slave lasted much longer (it still exists, de facto, in a modernized form) and caused more slaves to die in transit. And that ignores the deaths from castration, as eunuchs were so profitable.

Bosnia has to be pretty high on the list of killings. Gavrilo Princip killed Franz Ferdinand and set off WWI, which then directly lead to WWII. Plus, the overthrow of the Tsar would not have happened as it did so there’s all the Soviet Union mass killings. And the USSR supported Mao which lead to the establishment of the PRC so there’s more deaths there plus the Korean war due to support of Kim Il-sung. And the Viet Minh/Viet Cong and also lead to the Khmer Rouge and all the great stuff they did.

Now, I’m sure Bosnia would rather we point our finger at Serbia since Princip’s family was of Serbian extraction, but they had lived in Bosnia for centuries.

In terms of #“killed”/population this has to be a remarkably high ratio. But I bet the Mongols still win this stupid game.

If we count gigadeaths caused by Acts of [deity] and predestination then is Vatican City the most murderous nation?

It’s plausible to blame the Black Death on the Mongols. And not just the European plague, but also in China and elsewhere in Asia. That should put them over the top.

Catholics don’t believe in predestination. If that’s a requirement, then you’d have to blame Switzerland.
