I’m perfectly content with whatever Target has to offer. However, I understand that these shows are useful for the people who make the clothing that I do like, so I don’t begrudge them their fun and flights of fancy. I don’t understand why people feel the need to tell everyone else that something is obviously crap. Clearly a lot of people enjoy and like this so why can’t you let them enjoy it? Or does it make you feel better to have something to feel superior about? The clothing shows do serve a purpose because they illustrate the materials, techniques, styles and patterns that the designers are playing with right now. They are overblown and exaggerated because they are like blow up prints of the detail work of the regular clothes. ---

Maybe. I don’t know. I’m sure the fashion world has found things butt-ass ugly before. We learn from mistakes as much as from successes. Plus, I like a lot of the jackets in those photos anyway so even if the leggings don’t catch on (which honestly, people were talking about guyliner and manscara, have those caught on beyond a small subset of the more emo-y males?) I’m ok with whatever comes out of this particular fashion show. ---

Female here. I would automatically assume those guys were gay. I love kilts, and ‘different’ clothing styles can look good/turn my female parts on. But not that. That looks…like a gay guy trolling. It would never even occur to me that those guys were straight. Never. Which isn’t to say these styles are meant to be attractive to gay guys, in which case I think there’s probably a good market. ---

(This to the thread in general) I’m 48 – at the time I was born the world was threatened by a) the Cuban missile crisis and b) the Beatles’ haircuts. I’ve lived through Mods, Rockers, Hippies, Skinheads, Disco, Heavy Metal, Punks, Teds, Rockabilly, New Romantics, Rude Boys, Goths, Young Fogies, Emos and more that I can’t be bothered to remember – and that’s just street fashion. Looking at my photo album, I seem to have _worn_ half of it. Shorts over leggings wouldn’t raise an eyebrow. Even in black leather. ---
