I made a simple point: if you have a monarch who is powerful and involved in national government in a major way, the monarch is no longer a unifying symbol who is above politics. You want a monarch who is both, but it doesn’t work that way. Do you have an answer or a reason you think I’m wrong, or are you going to quote Benjamin Disraeli at me?
