So the guys in the bar were just off? That’s what I thought (especially the pissing in the corner - that’s just rude, even after the Zombie Apocalypse), but I thought maybe I missed something more concrete.

And agreed about Lori - two people have already gone to get Herschel - calm the hell down, would you? If you can’t do that, maybe you could try driving with your eyes on the road.

They were clearly muscle, as in criminal enforcers. Good riddance.

I can’t wrap my head around any of these comments. It’s like we watched different shows.

Just watched the encore, and it occured to me that Herschel now has a graphic demonstration of just how bad things could be “out there” in the real world away from his enclave.

And maybe gained a better appreciation of just how lucky he is to have Rick Grimes around.

Those are two really good points. Welcome to your new reality, Herschel. You can do worse than have these survivors on your side (even if they do seem to make some stupid, **stupid** decisions at times).

I noticed that, too. I wonder if those were scouts for some character we’re going to see later, like the Governor, who’s heard tell of Rick Grimes from someone (Merle?).

Also, I thought I remembered only three graves dug - Sophia’s, Annette’s (Herschel’s wife/Maggie’s stepmother), and Sean (Herschel’s son/Maggie’s stepbrother).

I agree that Herschel now sees that it’s different world outside of his farm, and he needs to wrap his brain around it. He did admit to Rick that Rick had been right about the people in the barn, and that he (Herschel) had been a fool about his assumptions.

You know, you’re right - I’m pretty sure Herschel was drinking sarsparilla, the bar practically had batwing doors, and they totally had a quickdraw gunfight!

**Don Draper** said it, above:

> The three other people were from Hirsch & Maggie’s family. They were trying to be respectful to their dead too. And yeah, the other walkers were somebody’s loved ones, but I can see why they didn’t bury them. Have you ever tried digging a six x four foot long trench that’s six feet deep? Much less four of them? Not something you want to do _sixteen times_ in a single day.

Especially not in Georgia. In the summer. Burning is quicker/easier, if not necessarily the smarter, way to go.

ETA: it occured to me right after I hit Submit that you might be asking, “Why bother disposing of the dead at all?”

If you are, then I can only say that, I don’t know about _you_, but _I_ wouldn’t want a bunch of rotting corpses about stinking up the place, spreading disease, attracting flies, etc. No sir, not within a mile or more, even.

I know! We usually agree about TV.

I was all set to like it. Except for Justified, it’s the only show I watch and I was psyched.

I was fine until Lori drove off by herself, without telling anyone, without knowing where she was going. That made sense to you?

True, they have to get rid of the bodies some how. It was different last season when they insisted on burning all those zombies when they were on the move; they (or at least the Greenes) plan on staying at the farm for awhile. Of course I doubt the makeshift funeral pyres are going to be all that effective at reducing the bodies to ashes so they’ll still need to do something with the charred remains.

The two guys were a little off. The skinny one was talking about everyone having to do “stuff” to survive and that nobody’s hands were clean. The fat guy specifically asked about women and complained that he hadn’t gotten any in a while and later became pretty threatening. Skinny guy gave a signal to fat guy and went for his gun at the bar. Rick quickly shot him and turned around to shoot fat guy.

I actually felt the opposite about that scene. Rick now sees how he did (and still does) appear to Hershel. Our heroes are Hershel’s Philly wiseguys.

Yeah that’s what I was wondering. I mean they could leave them in a forest, leave them anywhere away from the main farm, it’s not as if environmental regulations have to be observed. They drove them away from where they were living \*and \*then burned them. It just like a waste to do both.

Anybody else detect some foreshadowing when Dale said it was just a matter of time until Shane killed someone in the group? So who’s it gonna be? It better not be Daryl, though it seems like a possibility. If the previously mentioned theory about Merle being related to the two thugs in the bar is correct (and it seems likely, to me), it sure would make for some high drama if Shane somehow offs Daryl and subsequently incurs Merle’s wrath.

My other more obvious guess would be Dale himself getting whacked for antagonizing Shane just one time too many.

My only complaint was after Lori crashed into that guy (and I’m not so sure it was a zombi) she then kept her foot on the gas while there was a big crack in her windshield. That was so incredibly unrealistic to me.

If I crashed into somebody my foot is coming off of the gas, especially if I can’t see where the hell I’m going.

Other than that I thought it was good episode. At the end, I was thinking; Rick is becoming like Shane. However, I guess I missed that whats-his-name behind the bar was going for his gun first, so I take it back.

One of my few mystical beliefs is a notion that somehow someway places have memories; not very clear ones, more like the memories of senile people who just woke up, but the places somehow recognize and embrace repetition.

For example, if tonight’s episode were real I have a weird idea that the land on which the bar is built would be somehow observing and thinking to itself “Gunfire to stop Yankees from occupying a farm… damn this seems familiar for some reason.” (Of course it didn’t work too well the last time.)

I wonder if Hershel’s house is a real house or just CGI and set. I’d love to see the place if it’s real; it’s freaking huge and must have been a hospital or a whorehouse at some point.

I don’t know if they just liked the actor or if it was to make him intentionally suspicious, but any man who is that fat that many months into a zombie apocalypse begs some question. What exactly has he been finding to munch on and how exactly has he been successfully eluding close encounters with the lamebrains/walkers?

I don’t think access to food would be an issue in this scenario, depending on how quickly the zombie takeover happened. Many stores would still have food in them and tinned goods and the like would be readily accessible for years by the few survivors. You don’t see their vehicle, although they mention they’ve been sleeping in it.

Considering again the scenario I think it was a bit silly. The two hoods gain precisely zero from trying to attack the group. Even if they had been successful they’d have 3 corpses and no idea where the farm is. Perhaps I’m thinking too much about it but almost any other course of action would have given them a better result.
