Good point - maybe Rick is the only one who can keep a secret in this group.

Yup.

But only in a world where fresh fruit and vegetables are being imported from other areas to your grocery store are fresh foods going to be available all the time. And since going anywhere off the farm has been depicted as dangerous and rare, there isn’t much scavenging from other places going on.

Cucumbers, tomatoes, and carrots would be the right vegetables to be eating from your garden in fall. I’d like the question of food to be found in local stores to be settled - I think there should still be a lot of food around, too, but if the stores have been picked bare, time to get all the fruit and veggies you can from the local fruit trees and gardens and start canning (if those haven’t been picked bare, too).

Yep. And we should all bitch about it now, get it out of the way. You can barely see that gun in all those leaves. Not to mention how unlikely it will be to have Randall run the same route.

Someone who has a timeline would have to speak up - but I think it’s only been at most a couple of weeks in-show since she peed on the stick. If that’s right, she’s possibly only getting to three months, and wouldn’t necessarily be showing yet.

Glad Dale’s gone: annoying, preachy, useless character. So is the black guy going to do anything other than just stand around for the rest of the series? I don’t even remember seeing him this season until this ep.

It’s kind of a shame they decided to use Dale to show that they are serious about killing off major characters. He was the most realistically written of the bunch, IMO. Nosy know it all old guys who think their unsolicited advice is pure gold, even though it’s actually hit or miss, are found everywhere in the real world and he acted just like one.

How did the zombie catch and rip open the steer? Maybe it was hurt or otherwise debilitated before the zombie found it? Even if the steer was sleeping and the zombie’s fingers have been reduced to bony points, it’s hard to imagine a scenario that wouldn’t end with trampling and/or running away. I dare you to walk up to a healthy cattlebeast and bite it.

I think Chekov’s missing gun is going to come full circle when Darryl makes a desperate grab for it while under attack by zombies or outlaws, only to find it’s not there. Then Carl will have 2 deaths on his conscience, the little shit.

> Oh, and that big crew of 30 bad dudes the group are so afraid of? Here’s an idea - have you considered _leaving the area yourself_? I thought the whole point of staying at the farm was that it was a “safe haven.” Well, apparently it may not be. It’s not like there’s anything tying anybody down anymore. Just get in the winnebago and drive farther south, sit out the winter south of the border. I’m sure there are plenty of abandoned farmhouses with well-water between Hirsch’s farm and the Mexican border to squat on. Ones without roaming gangs of marauders hanging about.

Why risk it? You’ve seen what happens when they travel, even for a short distance. Do they even have enough fuel to travel from Georgia to Mexico?

There may be plenty of farmhouses and what not, but how would you know they are not already inhabited by survivors? And, if they are, what’s to say those survivors are even friendly?

To me, I am of the mind to shelter in place. You have a farm that has been relatively safe so far. There seems to plenty of food and water and the land is big enough for everyone to co-exist.

What with all the gun-related ESP in this show, he probably instinctively knows it’s there.

Not to beat a dead horse, but these writers are clearly not concerned with fridge logic. Darryl knows Shane returned from the school with a dead man’s gun, now. (Setting aside that it was a living man’s gun that the dead man had borrowed) how did he know? In last week’s discussion about Dale’s Shane-revelation, some folk said that the writer’s laid out the foundation for Dale’s conclusion (though no one could show where we find out that Dale knew Otis had Rick’s gun) others said they thought it was consistent with Dale’s character given his general mistrust of Shane, that Shane returning with Rick’s gun wasn’t a necessary a tell. Now we learn that the writers intended it to be the clue to Shane’s deceit. This brings us back to the original problem, how did anyone other than Rick and Shane know Otis had Rick’s gun, that Otis didn’t have his own pistol?

And the cow was not a zombie. It was a dying cow. The sounds it made seemed consistent with the sounds that a dying cow would make. Never mind the ridiculousness of a single zombie, who previously couldn’t summon the wherewithal to get out of mud, disemboweling a cow.

I hope they kill Lori next, and she takes the term “graphic novel” to hell with her.

What I would be doing by now:

1. Capture a zombie again and perform experiments to find out what they can do, what they can tolerate. Why wait for winter to find out if it’ll kill or slow them. Find a generator and a subzero and put a zombie in it. Among these tests would be determining if the zombies can swim.

2. If zombies can’t swim, head for a large river, get a large boat (or several) and live on it. Touch shore only to scavenge and in areas with large enough sightlines to allow retreat. Scavenge fuel so you can move up and down river getting supplies. Big enough boat and you can even get to the coast (assuming now dams in the way) and then explore from there. Get some speed boats and move to the Bahamas.

Which made for a not very fun game.

But more importantly, if zombies can’t swim, is that it is 3000 islands, many of which will be big enough to be relatively comfortable and unpopulated enough to be cleared (since zombies are now so nerfed that anything less than a 30:1 (or 1+wounded cow:1) is hardly even worth noting).

People have tossed out the islands idea before. The problem is that the Bahamas get hit by a hurricane every three years or so. And with no modern forecasting system, you’d have no way of knowing when the storm was coming.

They could easily build a storm shelter (or go into an existing one) anytime the weather got _too_ bad. And risking living through a hurricane would be less risky than living on a zombie-free island as long as it had fresh water and a way to grow or hunt food.
