Good episode. But it reminded me to pop over to the minor things that drive you nuts thread, and the while drop your gun in a hostage stand off situation.

I should imagine one of the foremost thoughts in Glenn’s mind was the possibility of returning to the prison and saying, “Hey Darryl. I, uh, killed your brother today.”

One thing I dislike about Woodbury is the business of the background actors. _Way_ too many people in the background of every street scene; the street is quite literally crowded with people going to and fro, but what are they doing? Shopping? Power walking for exercise?

That would seem to use up the body fat for the Governator’s cool torches.

Every time I read or hear the word “Woodbury” I cannot help but thinking “Brickleberry” damn you Tosh!

BTW did anyone else notice that after Rick got the phone call and came back to the group he went from bloody and sweaty to just like he showered? :smack:

Yeah, I’m pretty sure they did that on purpose to demonstrate to the audience that Rick was no longer off his rocker. It’s one of those scenes that just isn’t necessary to film. Kind of like showing how Michonne figured out where the prison was. We can just assume she looked in a phone book or something.

Seeing Rick flip out and go on a solo walker-killing spree made me wonder…have we seen any evidence that Rick’s group has some sort of hierarchy in place? Is there a designated second-in-command, for instance? I can’t recall any mention of the idea.

If there’s been none, who’s most qualified for the VP position in the Ricktatorship?

I don’t think there’s been anything explicit, but I do think it’s obvious Darryl is the second at this point.

Now I wish there had been some sort of crisis in the prison while Rick was off killing walkers & imagining phone calls, so we could have seen Daryl’s style of leadership in action. Maybe something like that will happen soon, since we haven’t seen Daryl operate as a leader before (have we?)

Anyone want to lay odds on Meryl injuring or killing Carol and Darryl taking his brother out?

It kind of already happened. Daryl took charge and made sure the baby had formula.

That’s true, good point.

I think that’s dead-on, Daryl has to kill Merle. His character arc more or less demands it. When we met Daryl, he was an angry, belligerent redneck loner, just a slightly toned-down version of Merle. Over the two and a half seasons, he’s mellowed into a level-headed asset with great physical courage who’s willing to be part of a group. Key parts of this arc were Carol telling him that he was “just as good” as Rick and Shane, and his delirious hallucinations of Merle when he was impaled by the arrow. All that’s left is to justly kill Merle, and with him, the Merle within himself.

I think you can broadly divide the characters into two groups: those made better people by the apocalypse, and those made worse. There are some characters that haven’t changed enough to make the call.

Better:
Daryl, Dale, Glenn, Carol

Worse:
Lori, Andrea, Rick, Carl, Shane, Merle

Unclear:
The Governor, Maggie, Beth, Herschel, T-Dog, Michonne

I watched the episode again last night, and at one point Glenn actually says about the prison “It’s a straight shot from here”. So since Merle said they weren’t going to the prison, Michonne could pretty much just walk the opposite way down the road and find it without a problem.

Just to be sure, was Michonne able to walk among the zombies because of the smell from when she had zombie guts poured all over her?

I only ask because I couldn’t actually see any such guts or gut-juice on her, though I know it “must have” been there since she didn’t have a chance to wash it off presumeably.

But I’d think she’d need it all over, covering her skin, in order to be sure not to attrack walkers.

Remember, Rick, Glenn, and the gang discovered this technique back in Atlanta. They didn’t need to cover their entire bodies, just their clothes.
