Yep. I’m not saying I agree with Retta, just that I thought that’s what she was talking about.

I dunno, it’s still pretty raw looking, so I’d keep it covered regardless to keep grime and dirt out, hope it doesn’t get infected somehow (by just regular germs, I mean, not zombie pathogen). Plus if there’s any residual vision left at all, the morning glare would probably hit it worse since it doesn’t really close anymore.

I love Carol, so very much. Her character is probably my favorite right now, after Daryl, of course. I’m anxious to see how their relationship develops.

I don’t get those who are questioning why they aren’t clearing the main yard. They are actively watching for another ambush. Hanging outside to eliminate those zombies isn’t feasible until the Woodbury threat is contained.

The best way to handle to Woodbury threat is to leave the prison and drive 35 miles in a different direction. Problem solved, forever.

And they wouldn’t necessarily need another prison to live in. Lots of buildings have security fences that would keep out both zombies and living interlopers.

As I’ve said in these threads before, if Hershel’s house and farm was so ideal they should just go back there. A few zombies, or even a herd of zombies, might pass by occasionally, but all you have to do is go inside and stay quiet until they leave. We haven’t seen that zombies aggressively tear down the doors of random houses have we? Or build a fence around the property. It’d be a lot of work, but it’s not like our heroes have 9 to 5 jobs they have to go to.

In a real world, a lot of other options would present themselves. I’d be headed for a Costco warehouse. Wouldn’t make for very compelling television though.

The [Georgia Department of Corrections](http://www.dcor.state.ga.us/GDC/FacilityMap/jsp/FacQrybyFacility.jsp) page lists 33 state prisons and 24 county prisons. If you must live in a prison, grab a phone book and a map from a convenience store, and find the one without an incredibly hostile lunatic demagague militia leader with a grudge a short walk away.

But any stout building with few or no windows will work. Power plant, factory, water treatment plant, distillery…

Rick’s insistence on staying put is just reason #64 why he is a terrible, terrible leader, and the others should either depose or abandon him.

It’s a plot device to cause conflict, without which there isn’t much of a story.
I agree, some post hole diggers and chain link fencing from a hardware store at the farm is the best way to go. 🙂

Agreed, but better dramas like _Breaking Bad_ or _Justified_ have less of an issue writing conflicts that don’t require the characters to be stupid and/or insane.

Speaking of, I bet Vince Gilligan could write a **great** zombie show. At the rate TWD burns through showrunners ([#3, Scott Gimple](http://www.hitfix.com/whats-alan-watching/new-walking-dead-showrunner-confirmed-season-4-production-begins-in-may) has been confirmed), and with _Breaking Bad_ ending its run this summer, it’s not impossible. I sure would like to see TWD’s production design and atmosphere married to high-quality writing (and a better main cast).

Didn’t the house get wrecked when they were escaping the zombie horde? I know the barn burned to the ground, but seem to remember them not being able to just hole up in the house for some reason or another.

A big enough horde of zombies can knock down wood frame building just by pushing for long enough. I’m sure that’s what happened to the farm house. I’m sure that they could do the same to the chain link fences.

I don’t remember that the zombie horde knocked down Hershel’s house. We haven’t seen that zombies have the organizational skills to behave in such a manner. And if they did attack the house in one way or another, that would be our heroes’ fault for being too hapless to hide their presence inside the house.

Chain link fences have kept the zombies out of the prison complex.

I don’t think it would take organizational skills. Just the horde mentality and an absence
of distractions.

If the guys in the prison were to attract a big enough horde, it would just be a matter of time.

Yes! All of them dressed in navy shirts and khaki pants. 😛

O/T but I thought this was funny. I was at a big suburban hair salon today, been going there for 30 years. My hairdresser said she was waiting for her ‘medieval porn’ (Game of Thrones) to start up, and was I going to watch? I said, ‘I have to finish this season of The Walking Dead first’, and the minute I said TWD, at least half a dozen middle aged women went all “OMG, I LOVE that show!” and de-railed the GoT discussion.
