Great episode. The show is a lot better when they’re on the move, working towards some goal.

I liked the weary resignation everyone had. When they passed the hitchhiker no one questioned it, it was more like “fuck it.” When the walkers swarm the car, it’s like “sigh…cover your ears.” And you finally find the guy you’ve been searching for, only he’s cracked up. Whatever, if he wants to stay and bait walkers, fine. Fuck it. The important thing is that they got what they came for. Everyone got a little satisfaction, even if their circumstances hadn’t improved much.

I’m coming to realize that I don’t really care about either group. I like Glenn and Daryl and Herschel; the rest of them can get themselves eaten up and I wouldn’t care.

There are so many things that they _should_ be doing that it doesn’t even bear thinking about.

I feel the same way, including this last episode. Pretty much everyone on the show is irritating me at this point.

Regarding the Battle Royale that they’re preparing for, I’d love to see next week that Glen, Maggie, Daryl and Carol have bugged out the back door and left them all to their idiocy, angst, and baby-raising. 😃

When I’m watching, I can suspend my disbelief about the gun problem. When I read this thread it makes me mad. They are a group of people that has been moving around and scavenging the whole time, yet don’t have guns or ammo. Meanwhile, one single guy that has apparently not moved around at all has amassed an armory. If they were that close to Rick’s police station the whole time, why didn’t they go there a few episodes or even seasons ago to get the guns from the station?

Remind me where they left the bag of guns from an earlier season? Did Rick drop it in Atlanta when he was trapped in the tank? Or did they lose it at the farm when they bugged out, in which case they could just go back and get them?

I think he left it at the tank.
Which, with fuel, would make short work of a walker herd. 🙂

If they were that close to Rick’s police station the whole time, why didn’t they go there a few episodes or even seasons ago to get the guns from the station?

When Rick’s group was moving around they were relying on the superior scavenger tactic of killing walkers with quiet means: melee weapons and Daryl’s crossbow. Guns would just attract more walkers. During that time period, they didn’t have a huge pressing need for heavy firepower. Their need for guns is much greater now.

As for the governor, we saw him leave his fortified town to scavenge weapons from those soldiers. After killing them, of course.

They still have the guns they kept from that bag. Maggie used one of them to shoot up the arena fight between Daryl and Merle, and then several of them were in use fighting off the Governor’s assault. Rick originally gave a few of them to the gang-ish guys from the nursing home who kidnapped Glenn back in season 1, plus I think he gave a one or two to that family who decided to bail on the group in hopes of finding more of their family.

It’s ammo they were really hurting for, but hey, when a larger force is bearing down on you more guns never hurt.

EDIT: That rifle Rick carries over his shoulder is one of those guns too.

it seems storywise the group can’t get too big. it’s got to be a small, tight-knit group of faces we can get familiar with. if they did pick up people it’s either temporary or as replacements. the “hero” group can’t get too numerous, that’s for the woodberry folks.

Ugh. Of course. I’ll forgive it if they show the Morales’ as part of a group that lets people join, has a code of conduct and work assignments, is non-psychopathic, and engaged in agriculture. Such a group would quickly dominate the region, then the state, then reestablish the Union.

Could Morgan have hit his head on the sidewalk when he fell? I’ll have to rewatch it.

I wish the group had a different situation every episode, maybe searching for food or a new base, and ran across other characters who they fought/helped/received help from. Some could stick around longer and some episodes could last more than one, but I’m sick of the season long situations.
>
> That’s how the first season was. Rick met Morgan in ep 1, found the group in 2, went back for Meryl in 3, met the Vatos in 4, cleaned up after the attack in 5 then went to the CDC in 6. Lots of things happened and they had a beginning and an end, while the overall plot of the show continued to unfold.

That’s always my thought when I rewatch the pilot: that’s what the whole series should have been, Rick on the road, encountering new people and new situations. Perhaps settling down in an area for a short arc, but always in motion. Once he found Lori and Shane, the show’s ceiling for quality was abruptly lowered, because from there on it was about baba-mama drama and histrionics. What a missed opportunity! I keep hoping FX will launch a rival zombie show without basing it on a comic or book series, just good original writing.

I’d swap Carol for Glenn and add Merle, because Michael Rooker’s such a charismatic performer, but otherwise, agreed. I’d love for everyone else to get eaten and have the show reboot around those 4. Too bad Michael Raymond-James’ Philly scumbag got shot in the head, he’d make a fine addition as well.

Keep in mind what Morgan was doing though. He was using alternative methods to kill zombies and robbing people of their guns, it wouldn’t be hard to amass a pretty serious stockpile like that. Plus Rick showed him were the police armory was. I think the bag of guns was split with the guys who were guarding the old folks home?

If you watch the episode again, the whole “sneaking around the bad guys while they are distracted” loks like a old Bugs Bunny cartoon. It was just missing the piano /violin arpeggios.

The “wait here” scene was humorous. I could just imagine the carnage on the other side as Michonne goes all Kill Bill/Tasmanian Devil on the zombos, just to get the pic and the cat.

Then again, maybe I’m just sick.

And again they go to all this trouble, to go retrieve a big cache of weapons that’s hopefully still there, many miles away across zombie-infested roads… in a compact car that gets stuck on wet grass, and with hardly any cargo capacity… and they apparently take only a fraction of the massive stash Malcolm(?) put together and does not reasonably need. They repeatedly make these essential forays like they’re running down to the Sebben-Lebben for a slurpee. I don’t know if I can watch any more of this idiocy.

And… did I miss this in the thread?.. I am pretty sure the Hunnday they were driving was a front-wheel drive. I don’t think Hyundai makes anything but FWD or AWD in their smaller cars, and I doubt those have limited-slip diffs, and that certainly wasn’t AWD… so why in the FUCK were they putting traction stuff under ONE REAR WHEEL?
