> I don’t think there’s been any indication Gabriel is Catholic. And that would be a very unusual thing to be in small-town Georgia where his congregation seems to have been located. (Caveat: there are Mexican-American Catholic congregations, but that doesn’t seem to be Gabriel’s milieu.)

Gabriel is an Episcopalian, (At least that’s what the sign outside his church said.) so it would be normal for him to wear a collar.

Did anyone get flashbacks to Savini’s Day Of The Dead SFX work in this episode?

What with the “balloon belly” and Noah getting torn apart?

So zombies go from so weak they can be tipped over with a nudge, to the strength of being able to tear a human apart by hand?

Heck, if you’re being overrun, your best bet by far is to just start punching every zombie in the face. In addition to everyone wearing SWAT gear (or even hockey pads), the survivors should rig up and wear some kind of [cestus](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cestus)-like gloves and train with them because if a casual poke with a stick is enough to breach a zombie skull, a solid jab should do the same, while protecting the wearer’s forearm.

Even a good set of brass knuckles could save your life.

why didn’t they pike the group of zombies that was behind the fence inthe warehouse? 5 mintues and that little mess would have been over.

a prime mission of any group while traveling should be to kill any/all walkers seen - (hordes that are beyond measure as an exception) -

The zombie you let walk - is the one that will sneak up on you later.

(we’re now calling them Nimbie Zonjas)

Yes, and easily available for purchase via catalog. You can also get instructions on building your own on YouTube.

I’m not sure I understand why the writers are making Carol such a dick towards that kid.

I understand their first encounter: she gets caught stealing and needs to put a little fear into him to prevent him from squealing. Perfectly understandable.

But their scene last week, where she kept telling him to leave her alone after she caught him in her house and that uncomfortable cookie making scene? That came out of nowhere. In fact, that seems out of character for someone who is being shown as plotting 3 moves ahead and pretending to know nothing.

I’m not willing to simply blame bad writing for everything I don’t understand. I just want to know why the writers are making her act like that. To me, it makes more sense for Carol to try to befriend the kid now that he knows about her stealing, or act as a mother figure and twist him to her ends. It doesn’t make sense to do things that irritate him and may piss him off (even though he didn’t get mad) and telling him to go and she’s not going to make him any more cookies. I would have felt a scene where she catches him, then happily makes him cookies while grilling him about Alexandria, Deanna, his parents, etc. more to her style, gather information by pretending to be this denmother and use the kid unassumingly, since he would probably be able to get info that she couldn’t

And both have a V-Twin sound dubbed over them. I could sorta overlook the Triumph. It was a parallel twin with straight pipes. It wouldn’t make the Harley sound that the post production crew decided it should - but it’d be sorta close.

The nighthawk, though? That inline 4 sounds nothing like a V-Twin. I’m baffled as to why they thought it should.

Because Carol is completely over caring about kids. It makes perfect sense if you consider her daughter and then Lizzie and Mika. He only gets through to her hardened heart after she realizes there is almost certainly abuse going on in his home, since she’s an abuse survivor too.

Because for the majority of people watching the show \<random motorcycle noise\> is sufficient? 😉

A bolt gun wouldn’t be that difficult to make. Any auto repair shop would have all, or most of, the parts. And they’re free. A gas cylinder, compressor or bicycle air pump, high pressure air hose, a quick-release air valve, a steel bolt, a return spring, and a housing for the bolt and spring.

Or modify a pellet gun.

The problems would be weight, and having to get close enough for it to be effective.

There’s gotta be a name for this right? People with very specific knowledge on something reacting like EVERYONE should have that knowledge when a piece of media gets it wrong?

I get mad when they still use Pac-Man sound effects to convey video game noises in contemporary settings on shows or movies.

A rechargeable nail gun would be even better, especially since it can be used to assemble improvised barricades. For compressed air weapons, they should be trying various types of pellet guns.

In any event, walkers should never be ignored. Whenever possible, they should be put down on sight, even if they appear to pose no threat.

Yeah, that thing would not be practical at all for most situations. You have to carry around the heavy air canister, and once it’s discharged it’s useless until you can charge it again. As soft as these walker skulls are, I’d much rather have a sword or spear or any long pointy thing.

Lazy editing, production costs, or because big V-Twins sound way cooler than any other configuration? V-Twin rumble is known to be a chick and zombie magnet. 😃

I don’t mind that Carol is rude to the kid. She doesn’t want to bond with kids based on her experience. I’m wondering why in hell that kid would sneak into Carol’s house for cookies after she threatened to tie him up to a tree outside the wall and let walkers eat him up. Guess she didn’t scare him quite enough.

That is what I’m thinking, also. If that speech didn’t scare Sam, what kind of crap has this kid been subjected to in the past?

OTOH, it’s also possible that Sam has never experienced someone actually following thru on such an evil threat. Maybe he’s watched too many uber-violent movies, or video games, or zombie death shows (like the Walking Dead?), where everyone talks like that but none of the viewers actually become injured?

Perhaps her story was so over the top (“I’ll tie you a tree and let the roamers eat you alive”, not “I’ll deny it to your mom and tell her you’re lying and a tattle-tale”) that he was intrigued instead of scared.
