And they can’t get out of there because of The Dismal Swamp, I’m guessing.

As far as why would people follow Negan, some people just like to be told what to do. Especially in high stress situations.

As a motorcycle rider I was watching that and wondering what he was doing. Why push it instead of ride it, and why ride it through the big blood spot. He could have just ridden it around on the grassy shoulder on either side.

And I-95, and I-495, and US 50… I’ll bet even the walkers were tired of being stuck on the overpasses like it was an ice storm.

Right. Negan actually has a functioning state. Complete with tax powers. Lol.

So, if he means giving up half of everything you manage to scrounge or produce to him, that would probably make you wish you were dead in such a resource-limited world.

More like the old “company towns” in mining.

It costs you 30 points a month for your dorm, 20 points a month for the use of your tools, 30 points a month for your meals.

Your wages are 1 point a day.

How are you gonna make up the difference?

It was more than a couple of times. Only SNL has been this aggressive with commercials; I would guess this episode’s running time was well under 35 minutes (with the rest being commercials and a couple of minutes for the credits).

By the way, were we ever shown _why_ walkers were falling from that overpass? (It’s possible that I missed it due to being distracted or out of the room.)

They didn’t show it, it was just a random zombie cascade.

After a couple of “days” of Daryl in the cell, getting a dogfood sandwich, and the same song being played loudly, I said to my husband, “This is the whole episode?” Yup, apparently it was. High concept, superboring. Can we at least check on what the other two groups are doing?

Yeah, being a serf sucks, but life as on of Negan’s enforcers is relatively good. Ditto for people with special skills like the doctor. Life in the vassal communities looks like it can be pretty sweet too; as long as you pay your taxes.

BTW did anyone else wonder if Negan held an actual wedding when he took his new wife?

I think the writers/producers etc. are trying to back us off of Glenn.

Or like the Mob:

Now the guy’s got Negan as a partner. Any problems, he goes to Negan. Trouble with the walkers? He can go to Negan. Trouble with food, medicine, Rick’s group, he can call Negan. But now the guy’s gotta come up with Negan’s tribute every week, no matter what. Crops went bad? “Fuck you, pay me.” Oh, you had a fire? “Fuck you, pay me.” Place got overrun by walkers, huh? “Fuck you, pay me.” Also, Negan could do anything he wants anyway. And then finally, when there’s nothing left, when you can’t scavenge another can of beans or slaughter another hog, he busts your head open with Lucille.

I mean, he basically does. But it’s a feudal one. The surrounding communities don’t exactly get representation.

I’m thinking Rick should do Negan in the style of Vlad the Impaler.

Seems like a pretty regular occurrence, what with all the bone-shattered zombies lying around, and Dwight must be kinda dumb to look up at the overpass only when he was directly under it.

It’s not clear when or how the bike’s front wheel got messed up - the bike simply falling over sideways with Dwight nearly gets zombie-bombed doesn’t seem violent enough to cause such damage, and immediately prior to this when Dwight is pushing the bike along for no apparent reason, the wheel looks fine.

This looks like a standard recurrence of the zombies only being dangerous when a human does something determinedly stupid, i.e. the episode needs some padding.

Didn’t like the first ep, did like the second ep with Carol, Morgan and Ezekiel. Didn’t like this ep.

Oh, Negan’s a post apocalyptic brutal sadistic maniac who enjoys torturing and beating people to death, employs slaves, but he’s a feminist! How refreshing. You must ask for a lady’s consent in order to have sex.

Who are those guys doing nothing much but poking zombies and playing put the bucket on the zombie’s head in the barrier fence area? Is that a job? Poking zombies? Is that the job that makes you wish you were dead? What do the letters spray painted on their sweats mean?

Does the bucket prevent zombies from biting when they are taken out to the zombie defense line?

I suppose, but do they need to rotate them a lot? It seemed to be a full time job.
