When I heard the news, I immediately called a buddy of mine to inform him. The immediate response was “WWWHHHAAATTT!!! He had better of finished that last book or so help me…!!!”
RIP Robert, your books helped me ignore many a boring geometry lesson.
Let me add my regrets as well. I was turned on to the saga by my college-age son and have read the first 8 so far, with varying degrees of appreciation. That first one sure sucked me in, though, and by the fifth I was pretty gung ho. Like many others, I slowed down and will probably wait now to pick up the rest before finishing.
I envy Swampwolf for having met Mr. Jordan. Having been to several Westercons and Orycons, I know the joys of meeting authors in person, but never had the fortune with Mr. Jordan.
I haven’t read the series, mostly because I was afraid of something like this.
I will read it though, someday.
