[Here’s](http://www.urbanimage.tv/watermarked/fl_0238.jpg) a picture (there are a series of them, apparently) of the mods and rockers going at it with deck chairs under the Brighton Beach promenade. It was a crazy time. ---

If rock n’ roll could be personified, it would be an 18 year old boy with a clenched fist, a bottle of whiskey, and a raging erection. _Live at Leeds_ is the album that captures that. Some of the studio efforts come close, but **The Who** are to be heard live to really appreciate them ---

Add my voice to those who prefer Quadrophenia to Tommy. I’d even take Quadrophenia over Who’s Next. Who’s Next is the Pride of my Vinyl Collection. Quadrophenia is the pride of my 8-Track collection. I can listen to my Who in the original. [Previous page](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/the-who-quadrophenia/385185.md?page=1)
