Yeah, I definitely agree this season is “regular” TV, but fortunately, it qualifies as top-notch regular TV (a few steps down from average “Wire-TV”, but still great). The McNulty-Templeton fabrication storyline is too neat, too pat. They’re hitting us over the head with it, and while it’s amusing, it doesn’t have that realistic-gritty Wire feel. Marlo’s takeover of Joe’s empire also seemed a bit too clean; Joe really walked into that one, and it really should have been messier. I guess there’s still a chance it might be. Wouldn’t it be cool if the person that takes down Marlo isn’t Omar OR the po-lice, but instead one of Joe’s old friends? We expect Marlo and company to get away with just about any murder now (how many dozens do we know about already?), but the karma police surely can’t be too far away. I wouldn’t mind another Omar alliance, this time with a Joe-loyalist or two.
Maybe it’d be considered pandering to the fans, but I’d really like to see Brother Mouzone come back and team up with Omar again. Thing is, I don’t remember if he even knows Prop Joe, so there’s no motivation.
Any chance Marlo will lose his muscle? Bunk was ranting about the backlog in the lab work on the vacants. What did he say? Only 14 sets of evidence had been checked? If the cops can find something to use against Chris and Snoop, Marlo’s vulnerable.
They HAVE something on Chris and Snoop— the gun charge that keeps getting postponed. Not sure how much time they’d do on that, but Chris has priors, so probably something. If C&S wound up in jail, even for a little while, Marlo would be in trouble. I have a feeling something is going to come up with Chris… after all, we saw his seemingly normal little family for the first time. That must mean that he’s in trouble, right?
You’re forgetting the scene with Chris & Snoop and Levy. Their previous lawyer was filing the postponing motions, but Levy’s ready to go to trial by letting them set up someone else to take the rap for that. They apparently know who the patsy will be. But perhaps this is going to backfire on them?
I think it’s going to. I think Chris is going down. There had to be a reason why we got that little insight into his happy nuclear family in the 'burbs. I think someone said something earlier about him getting nailed for killing Bug’s father b/c there would be DNA evidence on him. Maybe it’ll be that that gets him, or maybe it’ll be about Lex, the only murder for which there is someone who will connect him and Snoop to the victim.
