# The Woodlawn Cemetery Tour

I really thought this was going to be a local connection for me… just my tough luck.
The main protestant cemetary in my current hometown is also called Woodlawn, and also runs tours. Their tours are a little different though - one weekend in September, local actors dress up in historical garb and portray the spirits of the local famous and infamous dead. It’s been going on for several years now, but I’ve only been to one.
It started in the Mausoleum with a woman portraying a local painter, and talking about Guelph at the turn of the century, and continued around the grounds with 6 or 7 stops. There was an uncle and nephew from one of the founding family’s that had been killed in a train wreck in Pennsylvania on the way to the World’s Fair, and a middle-aged brother and sister who’d drowned in Georgian Bay.
All in all, it was very cool and unusual, and a great way to spend a couple of hours for about 5 or 10 bucks a person.
