Better call Saul.
And there’s no better place to put up your dukes.
According to BBC News, Charles was not told/advised/asked in advance. I’m going to guess he got a phone call as soon as Andrew answered the door, however.
I’m looking forward to that same shock and comeuppance on another face. They really don’t believe it CAN happen to them until it does.
I have long suspected that Andrew will live out his life as his second-cousins Katherine and Nerissa did, although far more deservedly. In an asylum of some sort, having been declared incompetent. I believe that’s why the stories about his weird stuffed animal obsessions were allowed to leak.
Or Tempest Storm.
Whom I just learned only died in 2021 at the age of 93. Wow.
a tough line to walk when you (charles) are the crown prosecuting your brother. not talking about anything going into court procedures is the smarter thing to do. even more so when the court procedure is in your name and anything you say can be seen as throwing bias around.
In Charles’ public announcement he said very explicitly that the process will happen without his involvement or comment, period. As it should, period.
What a refreshing thing to hear from a leader.
It’s not so much refreshing as it is self preservation. It would be effectively illegal for him to comment and him getting involved could end his reign. There’s no honor there
It’s at least wise to publicly disclaim any attempt at improper influence and acknowledge the Crown’s actual role in this. No credit, other than good but necessary PR.
Of course, it won’t change the mind of the CT’ers who insist the fix is in. Nothing ever does.
Agreed. He said what he had to and what is required by law. However he hasn’t shown any support for his brother. I don’t doubt he is disgusted by it all.
I do have a feeling people will be disappointed by the charges. It looks to me that it will mostly or only involve passing confidential government information to Epstein while acting as a trade envoy. Illegal but boring to a public that wants to see pedophile charges.
I don’t think that’s boring at all. I wonder how much confidential information Epstein was collecting from whom, and who he was giving/selling it to. I’m slightly hopeful this will rope in Trump, honestly.
I learned last night that this photo is not while he’s in custody but taken after his release.
We may come to understand why he was sharing the information. Money? Kompromat? This may help clarify why there’s so little pushback from people in power in other countries.
I get the impression Andrew was always grubbing for money. He had a lavish lifestyle but was reliant on his royal allowance which I’ve read was about £1 million. His Navy pension is about £20,000 a year. I wouldn’t doubt he did everything he could to squirrel away his own money.
i believe overspending is a fatal flaw for andrew and sarah. there are many strings on the money they were given to pay off debts.
On NPR this morning, the reporter was beginning the story with a little background, and mentioned that Andrew was “still fifth in line of succession for the throne” (it might have been sixth, pronunciation was not stellar). This surprised me. Did stripping him of his titles and ranks not also remove him from the line of succession? Or is it not possible to remove him from the line of succession, which may be a recognition of actual family relationships rather than rank or title?
Maybe it was just a mistake on the part of the reporter, which would be rare on NPR.
eta: it belatedly occurred to me that I could Google this question. The answer is that yes, he is still in the line of succession, and there is increasing pressure to remove him. The AI summary says that he is actually 8th.
andrew is 8th, parliament and commonwealth nations would have to vote to take him out of succession. i believe if he were to be found guilty, the vote would be swift.
the line is:
william, george, charlotte, louis, harry, archie, lillibet, then andrew.
Could we ask the CT crowd, if the fix is in, why was he arrested in the first place?
