You’ll never force a sale of the Bahrain Bravos!
There are a thousand former college players each year who would willingly have their knees destroyed for a chance to play on an NFL team.
In 1987 NFL players struck. In response, the league cancelled one week’s games, authorized the use of “replacement players” for three games, and actually locked out the striking players for a week after they offered to come back. I think you overestimate the league’s integrity too much.
Nah, these would presumably be worse. Remember, these players are so bad that all records in the book get re-written on a weekly basis.
Players so bad they aren’t evenly remotely competitive. The replacement players weren’t good but they weren’t so bad that individual game records fell every week.
Players that bad get badly injured. Enough of those games, and the league would have to respond to public outcry.
The 2014-15 Swiss pro team Grenchen FC has a place in terrible soccer history. Not only did they lose 23 of 26 games, they were defeated by the Lucerne youth team.
By ten goals.
There were repercussions.
“It is interesting to know that Renato Brun, the club’s sporting director fired all 11 players who took part in the dreadful game. “No longer welcome at the club,” was Brun’s words. The players were upset about Brun’s decision. “This borders on character assassination. If you lose 10-0, you can’t just blame the players,” said defender Dugagjin Dedaj."
Are you planning on playing the team for a second season? Bratislava has a stadium available.
Oh, too late; they’ve just relocated to Bismarck.
