The conflict in Yemen is quite savage-the Saudis seem to be doing everything (short of invading) to route the Shia forces who are battling the government. I recall that there was a civil war in Yemen in 1962-Nasser sent in the Egyptian Army to support the anti-royalist rebels-and Nasser received a huge defeat (it was Egypt’s “Vietnam”).
At any rate, is this conflict likely to draw in other outside forces? i hope the USA stays out of this. also, Yemen is a poor country-if a major war erupts, the people will get even poorer-so what do the Saudis hope to achieve?
