It’s not a full moon, is it? Kidding, kidding. A stray dog in my neighbourhood always gets everyone else’s dog barking. Let them calm down for a while, they’ll get it out of their systems. ---

Are you sure we don’t live near one another ? My puppy Nick was out a bit ago and none too happy about his big sissy Kharma not being there with him and he was howling like a banshee. No , wait , couldn’t have been him you heard. He sounded more like AHROOOOOOOO AHROOOOOOOO AHHROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Carry on. ---

We used to live out in the country, and a couple times I’d swear that a big cat went by; every animal in the area would go absolutely _insane_ howling and carrying on. ---

The first dog we had never howled. So I don’t know what it sounds like up close. So it’s the morning of the first day back to school after Christmas holidays for our family (Australia’s longest holidays are in our summer, Dec-Feb). Dog Number Two has had us at home with him for 9 weeks. He just _knows_ that the honeymoon is over. I have a Juliet balcony outside my bedroom. The door is open but the curtains are shut. No. 2 is nowhere to be found. So imagine the shock as I’m getting dressed for school and I hear, from nowhere, AAAROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRR!!! I run to the balcony to look out, thinking the Dog from _The Omen_ must be outside, and find my little spaniel, sadness in his hazel eyes, stretching his head up and baying at the dawning day. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to stay home.
