I guess that’s where we disagree. Overstating one’s pop cultural knowledge is not a big deal. Casually tossing around accusations of bigotry, on the other hand, is pretty fucking serious, and when it’s done on the basis of a word that is widely used in the common parlance, and has absolutely no history of association with any recognized minority, I think you’ve moved pretty solidly into “deserves a pitting” territory. ---

I have nothing in particular against **lissener** , but the way I see it in this case: 1. **lissener** is a) wrong, b) moving goalposts, and c) terribly, terribly shrill. 2. The OP is dead on. ---
