His point is (I think, please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong) that the reason there was a movement to make our taxes transparent is so that people would notice when they rise to that point.
The ease of an all in one price comes with the drawback of people having to do research to find out what portion of it is going to taxes. Most won’t bother.
Now in the grand scheme of things most people don’t bother even when they see it as a separate line item on their bill but transparency is at least a little more likely to promote activism.
I get people like that too, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to explain to people that I have to turn all the tax in to the government. Some people honestly don’t know that. Honestly, leaving politics out of it, I really have no interest in the tax, I collect it and pass it on, it doesn’t do me any good, it’s just more bookwork.
